Gun Broker searches

Yes. I've been on the lookout for a specific gun and usually get 4 pages. Starting yesterday I'm getting 16 pages of mostly BS with completely non related guns/items. I'm sure it will get straightened out.

What used to be a 18 or 19 page search result is now 35 plus and yup you guessed it the extra 16 pages have nothing to do with the organelle search.

I would ask you all to file a complaint in regards to this matter. That is going to be the only way to get it fixed

Gunny, in my case, and I suspect others, this is a search that I created years ago. When something that fits gets listed I get an email. Since what I am looking for is fairly rare I may get an email every two months with one item. Suddenly I am getting daily emails with a bunch of non related items listed.

Sounds like a glitch or maybe a database update/change that might have wiped out some older stuff. I don't buy on-line or use gunbroker for much of anything, so just guessing. Good luck. :)

They should have it fixed. Customers pay a lot of money to them list their items, but give them a pass hen a problem develops.
Gunbroker is notoriously hard to deal with from a customer standpoint. There is always a complaint to the state option.

I agree :!: I wrote to the complaint dept. a few days ago and nothing yet. Seems like a pretty simple fix.

Yes, I check the Six Series occasionally . I searched service six and there were 100 pages of other unrelated items. I then searched Ruger Police Service Six and that narrowed it down to 4 pages but still too many unrelated items. The Service Six search was all that was needed previously.

What is an "organelle?"

I just searched 686-4 and got 7 pages. All 686's.
Searched Speed Six and got S&W 625 plus the Speed Six.

In cell biology, an organelle (/ɔːrɡəˈnɛl/) is a specialized subunit within a cell that has a specific function. Individual organelles are usually separately enclosed within their own lipid bilayers.

:D

I sent them a text few days ago. I did get a response and was told that they made it better and I would have to refine my searches better. So I did just that!!! I refined my searches to other gun sites. I stopped Guns America several years ago after they made their site better. These computer geeks just don't understand how our simple minds work.

^ Yeah, I refined my search and it left off several fine guns. Change for the sake of change. I'll bet the high $ reputable sellers are as pleased as I am...

So, if I search Speed Six and get 2 pages of "S&W 625" you suppose S&W paid them to program it that way?

Ahh, I see... I honestly thought it was some type of search algorithm or some new type of internet speak that I wasn't familiar with.. And with all the "texting" abbreviated jargon out there nowadays, who knows anymore?

Could you please post the number you texted to? CS or who was it? PM if you want.

Is anyone else having issues with the normal searches like "Rare Ruger" or anything like that. My normal search stuff is now huge in listing amounts. I don't get it.

Vern,
i have bought a few guns on GunBroker, 2 1903s, 2 1908, various and sundry oddball
pistols, and never had a problem. I also have no problem searching on Gun Broker. It is kinda
like asking a 5 year old a question, be very specific!
Blackie

I just ran a test search. Normally, I'm looking for Old Model single-actions and I use "Ruger screw" as my search inquiry because most are listed under "Ruger three screw". I usually get about four pages, maybe a few more, including ads for actual Ruger screws, such as grip screws and the like. This time I got 37 pages of everything including the word "Ruger". This is new to me.

Blackie I have done a refined search and it still isn't the same as of a few days ago. I use to type rare ruger and maybe 2 1/2 pages but not now thanks for the replies it has gotten a little better so maybe they worked out some of their errors.

Do a more refined search? REALLY????

Gee, my previous search "refined" my results to zero results 90% of the time which is realistic. Now it gets four pages that are not even close. More like they unrefined it.

A second thing is you have to be a little vague to try and catch the misspelled or otherwise messed up postings.

Now it's more like the new useless shop manuals or catalogs that force you to know exactly what you want and tell it that way or you can't find the info you need.

Part of the problem is that GB has encouraged its sellers (the revenue part of the business) to list dozens of keywords in their descriptions, to give more "visibility" to buying customers using the search feature.

GB is also adding a social media feature to provide the buyers with instant (permanent) linkage to SM sites (companies). Now you've really been sold down the river.

Profit from one's labor is fine, but willful Greed is still a sin.

I emailed the same complaints of massive returns for simple two word searches just two days ago and they answered today ...they made some suggestions which did not improve the situations but at the end ...they asked me to please take the time to send them the exact search phrases I use that are getting such crazy return amounts

I think they know they have a problem
I think the techies trying to unravel their "new improved" search parameters DO NOT understand gun jargon
I think if you do not take the time to supply them with exact cause and effects ...it may never recover

Yeah, I figured it out eventually.. Like I said in another post. With the way people use language nowadays with texting and abbreviations, it can be hard to figure out what folks are saying nowadays.. I honestly thought it was something new in the way of text speak, or some type of search language..

Sorry for the confusion..

Why can't people just say what they mean anymore? Are we in that much of a hurry anymore that we have to abbreviate everything?

Tried my search tonight and got 45 pages of single six's. On the first page was Glock's, S&W, Kar's, Sig, Mauser,Bushmaster, Uberti, and a few Ruger's. I decided to inform Gun Broker that I will not be buying anything from the site until this problem is fixed.
If the customers quite buying than the sellers wont have fees to pay on guns they sell. And Gun Brokers profits go in the toilet.
