Stock wood is just too darn thin so do you think?
Rubber or wood?
Hogue or Pachmayr?
:?:

 I'm inclined to go with the Pachmayr because that's what is on my S&W 617. 8)

I think you have already answered your own question b.thomas.

Pachmayr Grippers always felt too rectangular to me, as for my hand they need to be wider. I like the Pachmayr Gripper Pro and Presentation much better.

Are the stock grips you speak of on your Security Six the target grips of the thin factory panels (like below)?

Or you could find some old Herrett's stocks. They were comfortable and looked nice too.

I personally love how the stock service grips feel in the hand and they seem fine even with my heaviest loads.

Herrett's is still around, they can make you a set of stocks fitted to your hand and your revolver. http://www.herrett-stocks.com/

I have a bunch of grips I got along with my Security Six.

My favorites are the factory stocks and a pair of Jay Scott Fake Stag I shaped a bit to fit my hands {I admit it...my favorites}.

Then with the gun came a couple other pair of really seedy and sleazy fake Mother-of-Pearl, {black and regular} and some other hellacious looking slabs that could only be home on a Barbe-que Gun at whorehouse.

As for Tyler T-Grips, I've used them on S&W's in the past and they are great, but I've heard they are not available anymore...or that the company is now hard to deal with since the demise of the original owner.

Fact or no?

Anybody bought a T-Grip lately?

I got mine a few years ago used on Rugerforum.net, so I cannot comment on the customer service with firsthand experience but I have also heard that there is a long wait recently.

But it might be worth it, the Packmayr's are kind of tacky and the Ruger grips that I have on mine, are showing nice grain 8) .

I just received a couple from them a few weeks ago for an N Frame Smith and a Security Six. Took 7 weeks for them to arrive which is about what the claim for delivery IIRC.
