I received a new dragoon style SBH grip frame that I want to put on my short-barreled SBH. I ordered the frame from Midway and surprised to see deep file marks on the ears and under the trigger guard. Also the lower sides of the frame that rests under the cylinder frame was very dull and somewhat rough. The backstrap was finished very nicely.

Is this common or should I have expected better? It is supposed to be a genuine Ruger part... Barry

Typically the grip frames will require final fitting and finishing. This allows fine tuning to the main frame, allowing for manufacturing tolerances. All I've dealt with are Bisley frames but I imagine the SBH'S are the same.

You are going to have to File, sand to fit the GF to the CF and a lot Polish, but it's worth it...............................

This is what it it will look like when you're done.
