GP100 Wiley Clapp Front Sight Replacement - HELP!

If this question has already been answered, I apologize in advance as a search failed to turn up a thread. I recently added a blued Wiley Clapp edition GP100 to my collection of Rugers. I love the fixed sight and three inch barrel, and plan to use it as an alternate carry gun in locations with capacity restrictions. There are two issues I have already found with the revolver. The first is that the soft rubber grips supplied with the revolver, although supremely comfortable and beautiful, allow the hammer pin to "walk". I have already replaced them with aftermarket grips and that problem is now solved. The second problem is more vexing. The revolver came with a gold bead front sight. I have red fiber optic front sights on ALL of my other hand guns and do not want two sighting systems. When I asked Ruger for a source for a replacement fiber optic front sight, or the dimensions of the cut for the front sight, this is the answer I received:

"Unfortunately, we do not have any other sights that will fit this firearm expect for the one that is installed on the firearm, we have no other information at this time."

WHAT????????

The stainless steel version of the Wiley Clapp GP100 comes with a green fiber optic front sight and Ruger DID build this pistol so should know who made the front sight and what the cut dimensions are for the cut. This is so "un-Ruger" that I had to come here to try to get an answer. The revolver is going to the gunsmith on Monday to be customized to my specifications for a carry revolver, so I would love to know the front sight cut (type or dimensions) and the source of the fiber optic front sight on the SS version.

Can anybody out there help with this?

Thanks in advance.

I thought I was the only one that would worry about this. :) My solution to this problem was to remove the rubber grips, put a small adhesive felt dot on the outside of the hammer pin tab, and then carefully slip the rubber grips back up over it, and problem solved.

THANK YOU!

I do like the size and shape of the grips so will have to try this.

As to the front sight, I have the ss Wiley Clapp. I needed a set of the small compact grips and was able to get a set from Ruger at the NH facility. I called customer relations in NH and found the person I spoke with to be extremely accommodating and helpful. I know Ruger has two heights of the green front sight as it is the sight being used for the new Match Champion. So...........call Ruger and I'll bet your issue will be quickly resolved.
