I have a 4 inch, 357 mag, stainless, GP 100 that has the fixed rear site and 1/2 lug. It is the 1/2 lug that I would like to know about. Common or uncommon? All I find is full lug in this style. Thanks for any info or knowledge. Why would they make the same lenght barrel (4inch) with both full and 1/2 length lug?

not impossible to find , but more of the full lug/adj. models floating around .

Most are contract guns for LEO of sorts , but not all.

Sweet handlin peice especially in the rarer 3" version !!

I honestly don't see a world of difference in handling with either of these, maybe if I had to pick one, the full lug 4" is a little faster on the follow-up with .38 +P's. Both of these are .38 Special ex-rent a cop guns.

I think Ruger should make a half lug 4" GP100 with adjustable sights.......they made the 6" in this configuration, I don't see why they didn't make a 4".

The half lug GP100s are not as common and not made anymore from Ruger. Personally, I like them better than the full lug GP100. I don't have a half lug GP100 but I do have a Ruger Police Service Six 4 inch which is a half lug revolver. I like shooting this revolver better than my full lug GP100. My GP100 for me is muzzle heavy and not as comfortable as my Police Service Six.
Opinion only.
