What's next all revolvers cause cheep 1/2 plastic semi auto's are more profitable?

Wow, I thought the same thing. Advertised, made, sold and discontinued before I even heard about them. I guess I've been hiding under a rock.

No one cares because it didn't happen. Ruger never made a GP100 in .44 Magnum. They made the Redhawk... and they still do. They made the Super Redhawk... and they still do. They made the Super Blackhawk... and they still do. They made the Bisley Blackhawk in it... and they still do. The only model I could find that I THINK might have been offered in .44 Magnum at one point and is not any longer was the Bisley Vaquero. That is hardly a pattern of Ruger going away from the caliber. Relax. Your beloved .44 Magnum is safe.

I didn't know about them either, held it in my hand and read the markings GP100 44 mag.
Brand new gun, dealer said it was the last one he had couldn't get any more $669.99 just might have to take it home.

Sorry dude, but unless you post a non-photoshopped picture of it, I gotta call B.S. on this one. You either mis-read the markings or... well... I don't believe it. It MIGHT be that it was a custom job by someone like Bowen, but Ruger never made it.

Went back over to the gun shop and looked at it again after all the comments here, still says GP100 44 mag. on the gun, the dealer is calling Ruger tomorrow he thinks it must be a miss stamped Redhawk, wow and I had cash in hand been wanting a GP100 44 mag. forever

Wow! Your gun shop is open this late AND is so close you posted, drove there, talked the the owner, drove home and posted again in 36 minutes! I'm impressed!

Open till 9:00pm it's 8:44pm here now pacific standard time on the west coast, your what 3 hours ahead of me?

Take a 0.429 bullet and compare it to the throat of a 357 GP100. Doesnt leave a whole heck of a lot of space for a 0.429 barrel does it? If there was enough barrel left to chamber a 0.429 barrel, some gunsmith would have done it. The heaviest GP100 caliber conversion that I have heard of is 41 Magnum, 0.410- and that is quite a lot.

The Redhawk is not much more than an oversized Security Six with a pushme-pullme main spring.

Ok... all joking aside about the GP100... You have a gun shop that is open until 9pm!? I am SOOOOOOOO jealous. I work nights so I'm not usually out of bed until 4pm or later and all the shops around here close by 5 or 6:00.

Yes frogger till 9:00pm and only a few blocks up the road, that would suck if they rolled the carpet as early as they do where you live.

It does suck. I have to make plans and get up early just to make it to a few shops before they close. Then again, it makes impulse buys less likely so it probably saves me money.

No. I have to drive 10 miles or so to get to a small town... and it is so small it has 2 red lights and a population of 1038. Where I live, the cows out number the people.

sounds like a missmarked gun, either a GP with the wrong caliber or a Redhawk with the wrong model. When you get it home post pictures.

I agree, but either way it should not be a matter of confusion to a gun shop owner who doubtless has 44 Mg. ammo to try in it to see if it is really a 44 Mg., and/or other GP100s to compare to it for size.

A problem like this should not take more than 2 minuets to solve.

I am inclined to think that someone is jerking us around here.... :D

I would get pictures of the gun. If it is a Redhawk with a GP100 Roll Mark, strangely enough I would buy it for no other reason then it would be unique.

If it is a GP100 that somehow is marked 44, well it would be fun to send that gun to Ruger for warenty work asking why you can't fit 44 Mag ammo in your gun when it says so on the barrel.

The third possibility is some fool had the gun engraved after the fact. That is probably the most likely but why they would do that is beyond me unless it was a 44 Spl conversion of a GP100.
