Got my first 200 year gun

Actually last week. I stopped in a pawn shop to look around and asked to see a blued security six. Now I knew nothing about these except that my brother likes them. Price was $600. He said they had the box and it was unfired. I asked if there was wiggle room in the price and he said $580. So at this point I figured I'd go outside and call my brother and ask if it was a good deal. As I'm walking out the guy says "I can go to $550". So I called, confirmed that I should buy it and went in and bought it. Still had all paperwork, NRA application and the disk that sits at the rear of the cylinder for protection. The gun feels great and points like a sixth finger.

Now I want more..

It was made in 1976 and has Made in the 200th year of American Liberty on it. Kind of neat.

Get a #8 Tyler T-Grip for it and then you will have the perfect package. Ya done good!

Were all of the 1976 Rugers roll marked "200th year... or just the revolvers?

Generally speaking, All of Ruger's firearms were marked with the 200 year roll-mark, the placement varied depending on the model.

Great find and price, congrats.
See them on occasion in local gun shops but most are pretty abused or no box and papers. Did get a NIB Security Six a couple of years ago, box and all papers.
Shop Ruger had a sale several years ago and I got the larger target grips for it really cheap.

My 200th year Security Six is long gone, traded or sold for some foolish other firearm which is also long gone but unlike the 200th the foolish firearm's model/make/caliber are forgotten :-(

I've always shot S&W's better than Ruger DA/SA's but the 200th Security Six is one I'd have again in a heartbeat.
