I'm a member of an organization here in PA that walks the walks when it comes to fighting for our gun rights here in PA. Great organization and has actually done more here in PA against the gun grabbers than the NRA has in recent years. That said, I do also support the Friends of NRA (as many on the forum do also) and they do a great job helping fund the shooting sports throughout PA (my local banquet in this coming Sat and I'll be there).
However, back to the post. We hold a gun bash twice a year to raise money for our political fights. We sell 1000 main entry tickets at $50 per and then open the doors for other people to come in and enjoy the great food/beer/soft drinks and the side raffles (costs $25 to get in). The Grand prize thus time was a SCAR 16S, runner up was a Tavor X95, the 2nd runner up was a Tikka T3X TACA1 TB. We don'r slouch on the prizes we give away. We also have side raffles (sell pull tab tickets and the winner gets their choice from the table they bought the ticket for.
WELL, I won on a $5 side table raffle and since they didn't have any Rugers to choose from so I got a CZ75SP01 Tactical. Then later on in the night I won on the $10 ticket table. I knew what I was going to pick if it was still there. And it was, so I'm getting a Ruger Precision Rifle (latest model in Camouflage) in .308. Am thrilled to death (Eastern meet folks will see it this fall). All in all I probably spent about $200 on raffle tickets.
I never have won on the main entry tickets I've bought but have won some decent prizes over the years on the side raffles. (once was a package containing a SIG 516 SBR, 1911 Scorpion and a P238 and they paid the tax stamp). SO I'm doing ok I think. The guns have to get shipped to me, along with 2 guns that people won (I sold them the main entry tickets and I'll do the transfer). One friends daughter (I was sitting with them) won the Tikka T3X (6.5 Creedmoor, 24" bbl) and she's tickled to death.
So, maybe my luck will continue at the FoNRA banquet.
