We’re having a X-Mas family get together this year. Haven’t seen my nephews kid in about two years and he’s is 3 or 4 and my other is about a year who I have t seen yet. Ones in Ca. The other Tn. My nephews are both big gun guys( thanks to me taking them to the range to teaching them to shoot) and one of them works for a big name firearm maker. I want to get them each a Red Ryder. Just for the laughs and the kids would like to shoot them when a little older. If anyone knows, where’s a good place to buy them mail order? Thanks for any any leads.

I bought ones for my kids from tractor supply. They had the extra small one for my youngest and a pink one for my daughter. Not sure if they still stock them.

Funny related story. When I bought my safe, I was a little worried the delivery guys would target me for a future theft.

I made sure no guns were in sight.

So after they set the safe on its concrete base. I made a big deal of locking the Red Ryders up inside it. I said, my wife will be happy now my guns are locked up! 😂

I hope your nephews enjoy their Red Ryders as much as my kids enjoy theirs.

That is pretty damn funny. We’re moving out of here in about a year a need a new larger safe for the new home and that’s been eating at me not knowing who is delivering the safe and if they can be trusted. I’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

Yeah I think the kids will love em and their dads also, a bit concerned about the moms but I’m pretty sure they’ll be ok. Their husbands are always bringing home new arms. Hope they didnt buy them for them yet. I’ll just roll the dice. Yup, I’m looking for the jr models also seems everywhere I’m looking theyre sold out. I’ll try tractor supply. Thanks

I checked Amazon, this is what came up when I tried to order them.

Every kid in the house received a Red Ryder. Every one has their own now. My Grandson receives his this Christmas. Why don't you have it shipped directly to them? Amazon will even wrap it for you. Makes no difference where you are when ordering it. Your order will be shipped from a hub in CA or TN to those addresses.

They're kinda sorry. I'd get a better brand.
Way to bring some cheer to the thread.

The quality has changed over the years. My oldest is 36, and that rifle is different that the the one I bought for my youngest getting ready to turn 21. The one I bought for my Grandson this year I'm assuming is the same as the ones on the shelf in Walmart. Yes those are a bit different.

But quality wasn't the point. The Red Ryder to some is very sentimental. It represents something to some folks. To us, one of our Christmas Eve traditions is watching A Christmas Story. It was fun for the kids to get a Red Ryder the next morning. a 5 year old cares nothing about the quality of a "sorry" brand.

They are still used. It's only about once a year that the entire family is together. When they are....they all get the their Red Ryders out and have competitions shooting off the upper deck at various targets. It's fun to watch grown adults still have fun and take something like that so serious. Four adults from 20 to 36 with BB guns they've had since they were 5 having a blast. Do we have "better brands" air guns....yes we do. But the Red Ryders mean something to them.

Last year as a joke my youngest got a Marlin big loop BB gun. He was looking to buy a big loop Henry but there were none at the local dealers. I saw the Marlin at Tractor Supply thought it would be funny for him to open. After goofing around with it....he said "Nice, but nothing will take the place of my Red Ryder"....BTW, he also got a pink bunny suit. LOL

It isn't about quality for something like that. Its a Red Ryder for a little kid for crying out loud.

NY is a whole nuther level ball of wax, it’s deep blue wax. They try to make nearly everything regarding firearms here as difficult as possible to purchase. If that statement pops up on Amazon’s site they not going to ship here, that Bezos a-hole worked with them a deal but theres more than one way to skin that cat.

A local Walmart has em and I’m going to drive there in a bit and order them and should have em in hand tomorrow. Dont want to ship them to their homes. They’re coming here for Christmas and they live far from here. Want to exchange gifts with them in person. Doing research here I see that the quality tanked but most things have. It’s more a fun gift with a movie thats a coming of age thing for a boy as you said. That's something I have to see for myself, lol. Thanks
Just hope they don’t have em already.

Walmart carries them. I bought two a couple years ago for the same exact reason as you are doing. Probably can order from Walmart.com too. You'd be surprised at how much fun everyone had at that Christmas get-together. The Red Ryders were a huge hit.
I got to Ordie post and posted my response and didnt see yours till after I hit the send. Thanks

Check Walmart App.

I agree they aren’t great, but they are awesome in their own way.

They are tradition and nostalgic, but are also fun to shoot, in a load on Sunday and shoot all week kind of way.

My kids loved the Red Ryders even after I showed them better air rifles.

They are great presents.

Amazon has one like Ralphies from the Christmas store movie. With the sundial and compass, I kind of want it. 😂

This picture of small RR normal RR snd a Henry Youth.

Gifted one to my youngest grandson 7 years ago.
Plinking with it out at a friend’s scrubland in the Texas Hill Country because Austin (blue town) forbids shooting them in the city limits.

Better to find out from me they're kinda flimsy than to find out after giving one as a gift. I still have my Daisy Powerline 880 I got in the 1980's and it shoots fine, sort of. My inlaws make us watch A Christmas Story every year, another reason I am partial to other brands. Ever shot a Ruger pellet gun? I know where one is...

Well if I had the pleasure 30 plus years ago of reading your bitter know it all negative about almost everything that doesn't fit your fancy I would have proved you wrong. Flimsy? They are a dang low dollar BB rifle built for casual use from kids and not the rugged terrain of the Yukon. All the Red Ryders I have purchased over those 30 plus years are still enjoyed and shooting just fine. Kids can be rough on stuff and they survived. Sorry to disappoint you.

Sorry for your misery your in-laws put you through once a year.....but I think you were a miserable sort before that. Perhaps at birth......probably had issues with the delivery process.

Merry Christmas....cheer up a little bit now and then....lol

$90 is not "low dollar" for one of those but $40 as stated above is more realistic.

That price on the BB's @sharpblade7777 found is way cheaper than what I paid the last time. Wonder if it was a promotional price. Well, after research I see I bought a bottle containing 1K Crossman BB's for $7.09 on Amazon. Not nearly as good as 1400 for $4.

Still have my 40 year old 880 and it shoots just as good as ever…

Its never too late....2 Christmases ago, my son gave a Red Ryder 250 shot carbine action air rifle with a thing to tell time and compass in the stock. It had been 65 years since I last received a BB gun for Christmas.🙂
