Out here on the left Coast, $2.81 per gallon.
Now people think they've got extra money and are gonna charge their cards up for Christmas presents. Hope they're planning that gas prices could go back up. :?

on Dec. 1st I paid 0.80 a gallon for 20 gallons.

I filled up a Karman Ghia a few times. Then a bug, several.....then a Jetta...and today a diesel Golf. Diesel 3.35 in Dallas....Give or take....

Hi,
Filled up this evening for $2.899. Lowest price I've seen in the last week was $2.579. All prices in CA. Diesel's running about 85 cents a gallon over 87 octane gasoline at the stations I pay attention to.

Filled up yesterday in Wasilla, Alaska and 87 octane gas was $3.459/gallon. I think we are getting 'screwed'. I'm glad to be retired and not commuting the 50 miles to Anchorage each day.

Our gas is around $2.30/40. Still getting screwed on diesel at $3.30/40 same as everybody else :evil:

Prices here are down about five cents....meaning that it's dropped from the usual .25 a gallon to about .20 a gallon (in honest money).

Now the taxes are OK 18.4 and diesel 24.4 TX 38.4 diesel 44.4.
Does anybody know why diesel is higher? SEEMS it should be lower to help the commercial vehicles that bring US all of our products.

A refinery with a Cat Cracker any type of product and quantity can be made from a barrel of oil. Low Sulfur Diesel has a lot less additives in it than Gas. None at one time. The USLD diesel was only suppose to cost .$05-25 more per Gal. to make
So when high sulfur diesel was 10-25 cents a gallon less than gas it should now be the same price. :wink: As far as the oil industry shutting down. Most all of the Major projects that are now operating were sanctioned when oil was $35-40 or less.
Remember in the mid 80s oil went to $10.00 a BBL. The country and oil companies survived. Yea it was hard for us working in the Oil Industry.
BP installed four deep water platforms in 2005 that were sanctioned at $35 a barrel. They are now producing 500,000-600,000 BOD. which is about what the North Slope produces The platforms are now probably paid for.
For example Chevron just started producing from a 8 BILLION dollar 100,000 BOD deep water platform that will take them 61/2 years to pay for rather than 5 at $100 BBL.. So in the remaining 23+- years the profit will be quite a bit more. :wink: From what I understand lowered oil prices will not really hurt the BIG oil companies if they quite over spending.
"The transition to ULSD is not without substantial costs. The US Government has estimated that pump prices for diesel fuel will increase between $.05 and $.25 per gallon as a result of the transition. And, according to the American Petroleum Institute, the domestic refining industry has invested over $8 Billion to comply with the new regulations."

What I'm saying is that a gallon of gas is still a gallon of gas, a piece of silver is still a piece of silver, and the only thing that has changed down at the gas station is that nowdays you're having to trade scraps of paper instead of real money.
In other words, Gas is still the same "$.20-$.30 a gal" that it's been for 50 years....it's just that we've been robbed of our real money. And ditto on the grocery situation, and/or about anything else you can name.
It amazes me that We the People aint fighting-mad over this stuff.

Could be Jim, however every time we ask the question why is diesel so high around here, they claim it's due to the switch over to heating fuel production every fall. :roll:
I also guess that is possible way up North. I'm curious does the price of diesel come down in the spring? Or does the spread between Gas and diesel stay the same as in winter?
Seems when it comes to fuel we continue to be lied to. Like what happened to the $5.00 gal gas this year, China is using a lot of oil so the price is going up, not enough refineries and all that crap.
