Since my local gun club bans all cannons from the range, I took my golf ball cannon to my uncle's place to see how it would shoot. I leaned a solid-core door (particle-board with plywood overlay) against a brush pile, then set up about 45 yards away. I figured I'd bounce some balls into the air. First shot went just over, the next too low. The third shot punched a clean hole right through. I fired once more, with the same result. The exit holes were 3" to 4" across. I recovered three of the balls, very little deformed.

It will shoot! :D

I wish I could get pictures on here, but navigating Photobucket and the forum's process seems to be beyond my limited computer abilities. It was nearly impossible before I was involuntarily upgraded to Win10 and Photobucket "improved" their site; now, I can't even figure out how to resize a photo.

The profile of the barrel is a scaled-down mountain howitzer, with 3" O.D. and a bore sized for golf balls. I made a carriage for it, starting with wheels and axel from a bicycle trailer. I didn't make it to scale, as I didn't want to bend over to load it. It sits waist high. The barrel is heavy enough (about 30 pounds) that it doesn't recoil.

I have Windows 10 and PB and the process seems the same to me??? Uploading, copy and pasting really haven't changed. Not being a putz here, just haven't noticed a difference. I will tell you I have found it much easier to use my smart phone pics. to upload to PB. It is actually automatic. All of my photos taken from my phone auto upload to PB. And heck the phone camera is 12 mega pixels so decent photos.

What makes it go boom? How much?

Two tablespoons of RS Pyrodex. I haven't found cannon-grade black powder (or any black powder, for that matter.) A loading chart was included with the barrel. It lists three tablespoons tops.

Hi,

If you don't mind ordering online and can get enough to warrant the haz-mat charge, Graf's shows cannon powder from Goex, and a variety ranging from 1-4f from Goex and a couple more mfrs.

I'll keep that in mind. Next time I'm in Columbia, I might run up to Mexico and pick up some.
