Fun with a .38 GP100

I bought this fixed sight stainless .38 Special GP about 5 years ago, along with a 4" and 3" .38 adjustable sight version . These were apparently a foreign contract that was cancelled. Davidson's had them for a while 5 years ago, they didn't sell all that quickly. I also have it's "mini me", a .38 Special SP101

It fits nicely in a cheap reproduction .38 Webley holster

My first box through this gun, since 2018 when I got it. I've been slacking.....

Bone stock, factory springs. Double Action from 1-15 yards, 6 rounds in Single Action at 25 yards. It's perfect just like it is, some of them don't need a thing. This one should break in nicely. I yanked one off to the right at 15 yards, a bit rusty

I have a blue GP100 .38spl. I swapped for it planning to have it converted to a .41 special. Glad I didn’t get around to that.

.38 Special GP100s are neat. They're like the Ruger version of a S&W 38/44 HD

I was shooting MagTech 158 gr LRN

I put a box of Armscor 158 gr jacketed .38 through it today and it did well too

Great GP, General Purpose or Grand Prize Ruger. Should be able to shoot the lights out with that cool old Blaster. Buffalo Bore 158 LSWHP+P rounds will shoot in that gun forever. 38/44 load the BB is. 1175 fps out of your 4" GP.

For everyday use 158 grain 38s. Your grandkids will be shooting that rig.

My friend has a Python , an original from the 1960s not a "new" one and it's a beautiful gun, but he knows that there is no one left alive with the skills to retime it so he rarely shoots it

I'm like keep that thing as a collectible and get a GP100, and just shoot it. It may not be as "slick " but you'll never have to worry about anything with it......Going out of time??? No

I bought the 3" adjustable sight version for my wife, its clone in .357 is my avatar. Thought it was pretty well balanced for a shorter-barreled GP100.

I have the exact same 3" .38 and I put the exact same grips on it

100% agree. With the slightly smaller round-butt compact grips, its really well set-up.
