front sight

We have had this discussion before. I don't remember the consensus, ...but I doubt there would be very much if any difference. Perhaps the .45 throws a heavier bullet and requires a taller sight but really a 44 magnum has a lot of recoil also. :shock: :D

I have in my hand, an unopened package from Hi-Viz. It's a fiber optic front sight blade for the stainless Blackhawks. (THey are the ones with the roll pin replaceable front sight.) It says it's for;
"Ruger Blackhawk." No difference in any model. Part no.# RB2008-G.
As for height, it's pretty tall, so it should be fine.

I haven't installed it on any gun yet. I do have a stainless Bisley I've considered putting it on. I wonder why they say all Blackhawks except the 45 Colt?

I've installed taller front sights on each and every one of my "shooters". This includes my .22's, .32's, .44 Mag's, .45 Colts and .454 Casulls

Must be because I'm a South Paw........ :D

The reason that it says that is because it matches the factory height of the 44mag and 357mag...not the 45colt. I honestly do not think that it would make one whit of difference...for the money, I think that it would be worth a try.

The factory front sight blade on a BH 5 1/2" .45 Colt is .095" taller than the front sight blade in a 5 1/2".44 Mag. SBH . I installed .45 sight blades in my short barreled .44 mag`s to bring the point of impact down when shooting heavy cast loads.
I think they say "not for .45 " because they are to short.

Keep us updated on this as I am looking at doing this exact same thing on my newly acquired SS blackhawk bisley :) and I too saw the statement about not for .45 colt
