I have a M77 MK II .308 and the front sight blade is bent. I ordered a new one but have been unable to get the old one off. I thought it would be a simple task of pushing on the spring loaded little ball and sliding it off. It was not. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks for any help that will be given.

I would assume the blade needs to be slid a bit prior to it's removal.
They usually have a "foot" that needs to be slid over a bit so it'll be able to be lifted up and out.

Does your Owner's Manual cover the procedure?

from what I recall, (been MANY years) it seems there were two different front sights, one the detent was in the front and the other the detent is to the rear of the blade, that one is a bit tougher to remove, may have to tap "forward" on the blade, as the detent is depressed.......hopefully its NOT 'Loctited' on............
