Howdy all. I just spoke with Casey, Mickey's son, and he told me that all of April is booked at the Tin Star., and the first opening would be May 12th and 13th. I asked him to hold it for us, then called Wyandot. Jim is going to call him to see if he can arrange something sooner, but the way Casey talked there was not much chance, so I would plan for the 12th and 13th of May. If Jim can get something earlier, he is going to call me. I should know something by Monday if there will be any change. Casey also told me that if any want to rent a cabin, that one is already rented so call soon while there are some left. Give a yell if you have any questions. You all have my telephone number I believe. Take care, Hank

Thanks for the update Hank. Surprised they didn't at least contact Jim before they booked all of April considering our history there :?:

Do they have a place to park a self contained 25' travel trailer? Or, is that some whole other place? I'm hoping to make #3, couldn't do the other two. Weather was absolutely forbidding last April, and the previous one my wife and mother-in-law were pretty ill. Now it's just me and the cat. By May weather should be moderated enough to pull it down to Texas.

Hugh, I don't know about on the grounds itself. You may want to try Googling the Tin Star Ranch as they have a ton of information on their site. I was only at #1 but the trailer people were staying at a real nice KOA about 25 minutes or so from the shooting. Love to meet you!

In fairness to Jim, Pat is ill right now and is facing some extensive spinal surgery which will lay her up for months, and I am sure that his mind is elsewhere right now which is why I am trying to get things together, with some assistance from him. Prayers and good wishes to her would be in order in my opinion.

Hugh. I did not see any area that you could put a trailer at the Tin Star, but things change as time goes on. I do know that there is a very nice KOA just east of Fredericksburg where Wyandot and Pipes would park. That is also where we cook the etoufee and whatever the hell else that everyone brings that they want to sample. I would suggest that as a resting place. But Beagle is Right. You can check the site and they will tell you. There are cabins out there, but Susie likes to stay in town, or close to town, so that she can be around for the little restaurants and shops. The KOA is not far from town, and it is easy to get around once in town. The Tin Star is about 12 miles north I believe, but it could be 10 and it could be 15. I just drove until I saw the sign.lol When Wyandot calls me I will have a definite date. I don't believe that he is going to be able to get in sooner, and that is probably better for most here. Will be back later if anything changes. Hank

I was just surprised they didn't contact Jim first, that's all. I did not know about Pat. I'll send Jim a little note.

I'm looking forward to it again. Hopefully there will be no hiccups this year. Timeframe really does not matter to me as I can take vacation about anytime I want. We will plan on a 3 or 4 day stay again. See ya.

Had so much fun at Contender's place with the East Coast get together that I sure would love to go to this one too. The problem is of course distance and money.
I always had a conflict in April, cause it's usually around my Uncles Birthday and he'll be turning 102 come April, God willing and I sure don't want to miss that.

Well Guys I did all the begging and sweet talking that I knew. It didn't work. So the dates that Hank has will be the one.
That means I will be making a trip to the State Blackpowder shoot at Tin Star and The Ruger Feast 3.0 the next month
Jim

Well Hank and Jim: As far as wildflowers and such it isn't going to matter much. As y'all well know there hasn't been much rain in Texas so it's going to be dry.

I sure hope some of the other folks here will come down. I'd like to meet all the people on this forum. Judy and I will be there this year. We missed last due to Judy's mother passing. God bless her.

Things like that are the only reason I won't make it. I am trying to be careful about saying "I'll be there".

But we will.

Just made my reservations for ARF! 3.0. I'll arrive Friday May 11 and head home Monday May 14. Staying at the Frontier Cabin at Tin Star Ranch again this year. Last year we adjourned to my cabin Saturday afternoon after our range time and had a few beers and snacks, in preparation for Hank and Susie's Cajun Feast Saturday night. Then I stayed up all night making homemade kolaches for Sunday breakfast for everyone before our Sunday shoot. However, because of all the complaints about my kolaches, this year I'll be serving eggs benedict, eggs sardou, crepes suzette and bananas foster for breakfast. And if you buy that, I have this bridge in Brooklyn I can make you a great deal on. You'll eat what I damn well serve you!

We guarantee you a great time, great fellowship, great shooting and great food (if Hank and Susie do the cooking, that is). We'll have lots of Rugers to shoot, plus blackpowder trapdoors, c&b, etc. if Wyandot brings his usual arsenal. The Tin Star owners are just great, and they keep letting us come back. So make your plans now. There are lots of places to stay in Fredericksburg and Tin Star Ranch probably still has some cabins for rent. If any of you out-of-staters want to fly into San Antonio or Austin, we'll pick you up and make sure you have transportation all weekend. Fredericksburg is only about an hour from either city. And if you don't want to fly your guns, we've got beaucoup for you to use. This year we also hope to have a couple of Californians to pick on. (Rick and Wolfie, this means you--and anyone else.)

As usual, Hank will donate a hawkeye to the person traveling the farthest.

We may also fire a 12-gun salute in memory of our friend Piper, who was one of our "charter" ARF members.

Hope to see a whole bunch of you there.

Well Guys,
For you guys that want a more ecomical place to stay while in Fred'B.
The Motel is the Peach Tree Inn. It is an old quaint place with small rooms, but very clean and quite. I think My Pard and I paid around $50-55, which is good for Fred'B. The number is 830-997-2117.

Don. I might give a hawk and an eye, not my own, but no Hawkeye. But I do promise to bring one to play with.lol Sorry I was too late to get the thing done in April, but from what Mickey's son told me, these plans were made long before I called, so second week in May will have to do. I hope that this does not mess anyone up, and I am sorry Wyandot. I wish it could have matched up with your shoot. Hell, this will give you more practice for when we get together. lol. Y'all come. Hank

By the way, we thought that the kolaches were great Don. But if you want to serve filet mignon instead, that will be ok.lol Hank.

One of these days I might actually make something from scratch for you guys. Then you'll be crying for egg mcmuffins.

Hey, there are people who cook and people who eat. I take great pride in doing a superior job of the latter.

I just want to know how many we have to kidnap to be there this time without all the excuses we got last time. One's already said it's a done deal, but 2 others are questionable. I won't mention names or anything as it wouldn't be right, but a little hint would be wolf**** and BeerMan Rick C****right.

I think I'll be going although I'm very busy (yeah, right). I'll check-out that Peach Tree Inn.

I just got back from a trip to the East...Fl to Pa.

Like Karl said,it'd be fun to see many more new folks as well as the returning ones.

Hi,

Whether we have kidnappings or not, y'all remember, Graygun gets the FIRST cold one this time!

Rick C

Thanks Rick, just make it a soda...can't do the alky anymore. It'll be good to see you and Wolfsong.

Liz and I need to work out whether we want to borrow my buddy's camper again, stay at a hotel, or get a cabin out at the Tin Star. No matter which one we end up choosing, we'll still be there with the little one. It's a little tougher to travel now with a toddler that likes to run around and get into everything.

Paul. Wait until I bring a bearcat for her to shoot.lol Time for you to start getting some gray hair.lmao Hank

Graygun. I will bring some cold ones for you too, but will honor your wishes and make them sodas.lol

Rick. It will be great to get to look you in the eye and shake hands with you. Looking forward to it.

Karl. Bring me some Dr. Pepper.lol Will be good to see you and your better half also.lol

Beagle and Taz and Pawncop and Hugh, I haven't forgotten you guys, just have to go now.lol I am seldom at a loss for words, so will be back to chew the fat later.lol Best to all here, Hank

Ken. Are you bringing your cousin with you again? Let me know so that I can tell Susie.

Wyandot. I am going to bring some extra boudin for you. Anyone else who wants me to pick some up for them, let me know. If I have room after the etoufee and fixings, I will bring what I can. Hank

Hank, if that was my cousin I brought last year, we'd be married now. It was my little sis and GA kinda frowns upon that, though they've been known to make exceptions .

Yup, Val plans to be there

Bkat: How's about we do bean and cheese tacos. I make a helluva refried bean??? Would be terribly easy and gooooood. Plus we will have fun later with the fart game!!!! HaHa.

I am going to miss Pipes, what a fine man. It hurts my heart that he won't be there.

Everybody on here should try to make it.
