And it's an early one with a 'pre-warning' roll mark on the barrel!
Check the other side of the revolver to see the descriptor under the cylinder window. It should read 'Ruger Police Service Six' or 'Ruger Speed Six' for a fixed sight revolver.
Since it has a square butt it should be a Police Service Six.
Please measure the barrel length from the face of the cylinder and let us know the length and the serial number (leaving off the last two or three for anonymity, 123-45XXX for example) for us curious types.
Very nice example!

There are some mis stamped guns out there. Usually Speed Sixs (round butt) stamped as Service Sixs (should be square butt). You may have to take the wood grips off and show us another photo with the naked grip frame and the roll stamp "Speed Six".
We've identified at least a dozen or more mis stamped guns so far. I have 3.
Folks are also known to put square butt grips on a round butt gun. There will be gap at the heel of the grip where the wood grip does not follow the grip frame.
