Found a brand new SR1911 from my local gun shop. Was on a wish list for a while, and one guy before me for over 6 months. They called me as they got a brand new one from Gallery of guns. They want $800 plus tax so $848 total. Since can't find these I am going to grab it, even though once they are not allocated may be able to grab one for $675 with tax and shipping.

You guys think I got the SR1911 too high ? Thoughts ? I went with my gut, but I think if I waited I may have been able to get one cheaper. I don't like to buy on the internet without looking at it and holding it first, so I know may have been able to get cheaper at gunbroker maybe ?

In my town (Albuquerque, New Mexico) they are quick sellers. One store advertised on Facebook they had a few in stock which would sell quickly. They had them for $699 plus tax. I'm the kind of guy that would torment myself over price/availability so going with your gut is probably the right choice. If you got it then enjoy it!

Its worth what your willing to pay for. If your happy don't worry about it. You probably could of picked up a Springfield armory range officer for less than that but then you were not looking for one of those.

Good luck
shoot straight and shoot often

When it comes to guns buy what you want ,If your Happy :D with your new pistol thats all that matters. Some times you might pay a little more but you got what you wanted :!:

Suggested msrp is $799 so you got the gun you wanted at the going rate.I paid a little under that a year ago and it is worth every penny.Buy it, shoot it,and love the 1911 !

Thank you everyone, yes I got it uesterday and am very impressed. cant wait to shoot it !
I think it was a little high, but my FFL basically sells every gun off davidsons for 10% markup, and makes little to no money on it, as they are also a consignment shop. Anyhow, she told me "hey if I get an opportunity like this (since the ruger 1911 is the unicorn) then I will make a few extra bucks." I cant fault her for being a business and I got 3 of my other guns at great values, they are the cheapest prices in a 50 mile radiys when i plug my zip code on davidsons. any where else close to me i would be paying 25-75 more. so yes paid high on this one, but i am happy with it, as 2 other dealers close to me even told me to grab it at 799 (and I got it for 789 by paying cash, my credit card pays me 1% cash back, and not using it saved her 3%, so i asked her for 10 bucks off. she agreed)

thanks all for your comments.

hey Indy 45 & Gregg ..

NICE RUGER collections !!!!

I now have the SR1911, SR22-PB, P95PR15, LCP-LM, and a 10/22-RB

And also got me a Mossberg Maverick 88 12 gauge

Can't like that comment enough misterdetail !!!!
:D You're gonna love the .45, Mullet72! It leaves nice, big holes and the 1911 frame feels like a dream. Enjoy!

I paid about that here in California as they are VERY scarce. After having it for a few months I would gladly have paid another $100. It's what I wanted and it's everything I hoped. A beautiful gun. Plus a local 1911 smith was talking me into polish/trigger stuff telling me how bad all "production guns" were. Once he took it apart and looked at it he gave it back and said it looks really nice for a non-custom and if it works, leave it. Well it works just fine.

They had two new ones at a gun show in Belton, TX this past weekend. I thought about it, then decided on the SR9c...<><

Like some have said, a guns worth is what another man is willing to pay, that said you did fine.

The only caveat would be something really collectible, for example any of the Tricolor lightweights, or All blue lightweights aluminum cylinders, the S lightweights, first year flat-gates, salt box cod autos, the Engraved Single six's and so much more.... There is a "set" market price for these "RENE" and the like and are both investments as well as beautiful pieces of Rugers history. So if you paid 30k for a 10k Basic engraved model, you can plainly see you would be way upside down interms of a potential return on your investment. But, the same holds true 30k might not mean as much to someone who has the $$$ and just wants what he/she wants.

Enjoy your new purchase, matter of fact I just picked up one myself 5 days ago, the have been Non Existant here in NJ, happened to be there when the only one came in and jumped on it.

Shoot the heck out of it, after all it's a Ruger, made to last.

Chris

Thank you Chris, I agree !

Good deal in NJ, if I may ask ? Were you looking for one for a while ?

I paid $850 out the door with a 20rnd box of 185gr +P CorBon here in KC, it was the first one I saw in person and jumped on it over a Remington and a Brazilian Springfield Armory all around the same price

Same here Don, 846 out the door after taxes. Although I didn't get the ammo !!!!! Good job !
I have a feeling Ruger will be raising the MSRP on this and up the cost due to high demand !

I have been looking for one since they were released, the only one I saw in person previously to this one, was at a PA gun show in February, I forget what the dealer was asking, but I remember it being quite high. Had a couple leeds from various forum members, but either they were out of stock or the ffl fee, transfers fee's etc were out of sight.
I paid $675.00 for this one, but you have to understand that I buy a lot of guns from this particular dealer, matter of fact the same day I bought the SR 1911, I bought an old model Single Six light weight, A colt cadet that I have been looking for long time and another Ruger SBH S-47, and a beat up Colt Ace that Intend bring back to life, to so he cuts me a brake.

Hawk

Maybe a compact Sr 1911 model would be nice, didn't talo do a couple black SR's a while back?

Chris

I'm insanely jealous. Don't 45acp's top out at 850 fps with a 230grainer? I have trouble with the low speed, anyone here shoot smaller/faster bullets? It's technicaly a single action pistol, but I guess that's no different than any other striker pistol. I get weirded out walking around with a cocked pistol. I like my kp944 and I fear change, but that 1911 sure looks sweet! It'd probably lead to tears trying to find one in CA.

bearcat - you're among friends here, and we'd like to get you the help you need! Ruger acquisition syndrome? RAS?

me lol ?

Yes I like Ruger quality and costs compared to others. I trust the reliability. I put a lot of reserch and looking into guns before I buy. Shotgun, grabbed Mossberg. Best gun for price. P95, was my first, and only one I bought on whim was SR22. The 10/22 is best gun for the value, and to teach my kid.

One for me, one for my son for Christmas...was on LGS wait list a long time for mine, then a week or so for the second.

Stars and planets do line up from time to time.

Nice Unk !

Did you get them for good pricing, if you don't mind if I ask ?
