Fostering abandoned pups for our local Humane Society.

Miss Penny and I have a history of fostering unwanted, sick, old and infirm dogs for the Humane Society here in Bowling Green. When Penny's parents were murdered August 8th of 2016, frequent court hearings right up to sentencing for the man as well as Penny's and my need to administer the estate of her folks (who both died intestate) brought our fostering activities to a halt. But earlier this year, we felt that it was time to renew our participation in fostering activities.
These little girls we named Thelma and Louise, were 2 of a litter of 10 babies abandoned by their mother for whatever reason. Mama was a sheperd and daddy was a Raider in the Night. Penny and I received these girls as 6 day old bottle feeders with closed eyes and ears, and have nurtured them into 6 week old fluff balls of energy. They are in our family room in a large wire corral through the night, and out with us and our two personal dogs, both rescues, much of the day. Amazing puppies, one has learned from our dogs to swat a bell mounted low by the back door to be let out to do their duty. We'll enjoy their care and company another 2 weeks or so before they return to the Humane Society to be adopted out.
Life goes on good and bad things happen and we usually survive. A breath of fresh air for us these babies are. Wishing all good things to members here. Stay strong and determined friends.

God bless you and Miss Penny, Don. That's a great thing you folks are doing. We need more people like you. I wish I had the time and a place to do the same. As it stands right now, I'm a volunteer dog walker for one of our local shelters. That's the best that I can do at this time.

That’s a great thing you are doing. I can’t imagine how small a two day old puppy is. It must feel amazing to help out the animals like that.

Wonderful thing you are doing.
I would do it as well except for two reasons.
First...I already am owned by two Labrador Retrievers.
Second...I know damn well that I would end up adopting any dog I fostered. Quite frankly, having two masters is exhausting...any more would probably kill me in short order.
If I were to die, my wife would never speak to me again. She is hardheaded that way.

Well, I did adopt my new canine companion from the Humane Society; He's Not a "puppy" being six years old and I suspect I'm his at least thrid owner, but he's mine and I do love and pet him.

My rescue Pyrador and I just clocked our 4th year together. Hes a big boy so after being trapped and nursed back to health nobody would adopt him. We bonded immediately and now our favorite pickup line is, "we're on the hard to adopt list". We are grateful for the volunteers like Tallbald who save his life.

There are chuck. They're not hard to find either. You can be one too. Just drop by your local shelter and volunteer. Around here, when the call goes out to foster some animals, there's always more volunteers than animals to be fostered. Most of the time there's no need to ask. The volunteers are already there. It sounds like you need to expand your circle of friends.
