A while back,, I mentioned I knew of a neat High Standard pistol set that was unique. I promised to get some pics. Well, I was finally able to get with my friend who has this set & snap a few pics. The first one is of the wooden case.

Here is the set when you open the box;

open up a text program like MS Word ...or notepad....and leave it open while on Photobucket's site


When you get the url or codes for each photo, just paste them into the text program

leave a space below each one and just put one below the other.

Then, when you come here (or any forum) to post, you can quickly copy and paste them all in seconds into your post.

Then just close the text program window when you are done.

a brief tip on copying & pasting


to copy text or urls or codes:

place your cursort on the right end of the text and hold down the left button and drag the cursor to the left accross all the text to hi-light it, then you can either press CTRL and C to copy or right click on the hi-lighted area and choose COPY from the choices that come up


To paste:

place your cursor in the post box where you want the text, url or code to show up and either press CTRL + V....or right click and choose PASTE

I'll have to try that. I'm using an older, slower computer,, AND I can be a bit "computer stupid" at times. THANKS!!!!!

I do not know the year of mfg of the gun. Nor have we ever seen another set like this. I know my friend has had it at least 20 years now. By all studying,, it appears to be a custom made job,, not a factory item. He found an old magazine article about how to build a rifle bbl for a High Standard,, but the total configuration is different than the one he has. He can swap out the rifle bbl to the pistol bbl easily, and with the way the stock wire slips into the forend,, you do not need to pull the pistol grips.

PS; I haven't seen High Standard Guy appear yet,,,!

Thanks for the pictures contender. I don't think that's the aftermarket barrel I've heard of. Yours looks custom all the way.

Neat set up. My first handgun was a Ruger Standard. When I got orders for Germany in 72 I left it with my brother. Bought a High Standard from my First Sgt in Germany. Never got the Ruger back. Never felt like I needed it. The adjustable sight and better trigger spoiled me.
Shot IHMSA with a 10' bull barrel with a slip on adapter for the rear sight. Shot a Matco 14" barrel for unlimited with a Bomar rear sight and can't remember the front sight name a tube with an adjustable blade though. I got beat by a few Rugers but not many.
On a good day a guy could lay down on his back an hit IHMSA 22 rams at 200 meters with open sights.with some regularity. Seems like it was 56 clicks above the 100 yard setting.

Most of us know how good High Standard pistols shoot. That's why many of us own a few of them too! Good guns,, easy to field strip, and accurate. What more can we ask for?
