The last Ruger Stags were made around 1962-63. The last flatgate was around 1955-56. If that old fellow bought the gun and stags or just the stags new 40 years ago that would be 1971. These stags drive me nuts trying to figure correct or incorrect.
The consensus of those who have posted here is that the stags appear to be real!
I recently seen a pair at a gunshow where the medallions were "proud"
like the ones on Dicks gun. I passed on buying them and told him to
take them to Medina and see Rugerguy, don't know if they ever did.
The fact that the medallions were "proud" caused me to shy away! my
mistake I guess, you learn everyday :wink:
