First time firing reloads

I just started reloading and yesterday was my first time shooting any that I reloaded. I wasn't very accurate but they all fired and I didn't blow anything up, so I guess it was a success :wink: I'll be reloading .38 spl. and .357 mag. I used my Blackhawk .357 to shoot the .38 spls that I reloaded. I do believe this will be a fun hobby. I was able to read a lot of information right here on our forum. Thanks to all of you that share your wisdom.

Good work! It's nice to load that first batch, watch them all fire properly, and then go home with all your parts still in place. :mrgreen:

I enjoy my 357's as well. However, I seldom load any magnums. (Why subject the gun to all that pounding when all you're doing is punching holes in paper?) The .38 Specials are much more fun for me. Recently I have been enjoying a +P load for the 38 Special. Great fun, these!

Welcome to the field of happy dreams. My wife taught me to relaod in 1978 and bought me a RCBS reloader set for my birthday that year. Still use it.

She kinda regrets getting me started cuz she sez the only reason I shoot is so I have something to reload. Cud be she is right. Cud be she created a monster.

Reloading is addictive.

Honestly...how nervous were you when you pulled the trigger on your first reload? Not sure if my eyes were even open on my first!!! Congratulations on your first reloads and you are going to have a ton of fun.

I agree with pistoleer44, reloading can be addictive. Half the fun of shooting is the reloading process. Thursday is indoor range day here and today is 44 Special day; a Ruger NM Bisley and a Ruger OMBH conversion by Bowen. Both really great shooters. Also taking a new one; a Ruger OM Flat Top converted by Bowen to 45 Colt. Just got it the other day so anxious to try it out. So, after the Sioux win the Frozen 4 this weekend will have some reloading to do for next week.

Add another new reloader to the mix. I too have been reloading for nearly a month and I am hooked! With the help from Iron Mike Golf, I have been able to learn so much about it, as well as shooting techniques to better my accuracy. And being that I shoot lead bullets, I also am learning how the differences in powders and the like affect barrel leading. My commercial cast bullets obviously leave far less lead in the bore when loaded atop Alliant 2400 compared to Hodgdon Titegroup.

Another part of the fun is finding something that may not meet one's expectations and then finding a way to correct that. Overcoming such a disappointment adds to a sense of accomplishment when reloading.
