I bought a new ruger sr9c yesterday and when I got home I took it apart to clean it and when I went to put it back together the take down pin would not go back in.I slid the slide back off and the pin still would not go through the frame. Then i noticed a piece of rubber sticking out between the camblock and frame.I looked at the parts breakdown and its a o-ring where the pin goes through between the frame and camblock to hold the cam block. When they installed the camblock it got torn and has the camblock in a bind. The thing that kills me is it came apart fine.I contacted ruger and Im sending it back to them.I know its not a problem with the gun, just a mistake when assembled.Im just bummed,Its the best feeling pistol Ive ever had.The trigger is also the best Ive ever had from a new ruger.I look forward getting it back so i can shoot it.Wish my lcp trigger was as good.Sorry for long post.

Welcome to the forum Poppy. When you get it back let us know how it shoots.

I had a similar "fluke" type problem when I bought my SR9 over a year ago - "striker cup" broke after a couple of mags through it. Other than the technician claiming that I must have broken it myself, the service/turnaround/etc. was excellent, and it's been a great gun since. I hate to hear these stories, and I think assembly at Ruger must not be what it once was. They should treat you right. And welcome to the Forum!

Myself Ive had nothing but good luck with rugers.I think anything you buy now is quantity over quality. turn around is 3 to 8 weeks he said.It gives me time to look for the right holster.Glad to hear they got you back going and no further problems. Thanks also for the welcome.

Ruger didn't offer to send new o rings, rather than send the gun in ?

I would have taken it back to the place I got it from and had them replace it. Lots of gun shops will do that for you. They will send you the parts too.

3-8 weeks? Springfield has been known to take a couple of days...

3 or 4 days would've been great. The dealer didn't have another.Ruger sent me a next day air shipping label. With no more than is wrong it should not take long.

Welcome to RF.com, but 3-8 weeks? I'd have them ship you an O-Ring and install it yourself (they'd send it free likely), would take you 5 minutes max....seriously. Chances are it just got torn in assembly and it's the only thing wrong. Putting your gun in the line to be repaired for a simple O-Ring that takes 5 minutes (probably 2 for them or me to do) doesn't make sense to me.

I take it though that you already sent the gun out? If so, that sucks, and I'm sorry I missed this thread over the weekend...could've maybe saved you some trouble.

Yes I could have fixed it myself but I didnt want to void any warranty by taking it apart and them saying I did it and if there are other problems. Thanks

You wouldn't void any warranty....technically, there is no warranty to void. Ruger just takes great care of its customers. I doubt they'd work on my gun, but I've had it apart countless times.
