This happened many years ago. The "little girl" is now a mother herself.

I was at my daughter's home in Ohio. We had gathered around an open fire in the cool, late evening. All the rest of the famil had gone inside except my oldest grand daughter, about foru or five at the time, and I. She was looking pensive.

"Grandpa, where is Heaven?" she asked me.

That made me think a moment before answering.

With the wisdom God gave me just for that moment, I gave her a brief but honest answer about what we call "heaven," the sky above us, outer space, and God's abode.

She was pleased with my answer, looked as if she had been enlightened. And from then thought her grandfather was the keeper of all knowledge.

Kids ask some really thought provoking questions that adults in their hurrying don't think about. My son asked if God tells parents when kids do something wrong.?
Kids generally tell parents when they've done something wrong. One way or another. Parents know.

My youngest saw a plane (she was probably 5 or 6 at the time) and asked me where it was going. Luckily I suppressed my instinctive answer of, "How the heck do I know" and after a couple of seconds came up with, "to the airport, of course."

When my granddaughter was about four, she turned to me one day and said papaw, why do you smoke. I said well I just started doing it in the Navy and never had a reason to stop. And she looked at me and said “papa I’d like you to quit so you’ll be around for my graduation from school.” Never picked up a cigarette after that. She’s 22 now and starting her clinicals for med school to be a nurse.

My nephew, 3 or 4, asked can i ask you a question?
Of course, yes.
Well, some people wont.
Well, i remember that from when i was a kid, and i SO dident like it, that i promised i would always answer childerens questions when i got older. You may not understand it, but i will answer every one.
You're right, he says, i dont understand that one.
His mother fell off the couch laughing.
