Feedback on Scope

Now the proud owner of a SBH 10 1/2 inch barrel in 44 mag 1982 model used but a good shooter quality.
It came with a new in box Weaver 301 scope mount but no rings or scope and I have never had a scope on any
handgun but have hunted with open sights and accounted for several whitetail, hogs and antelope. Since this came with a mount and my eyesight is not what it use to be I thought I would put a scope on it. Any advice on scope brand and mounts would greatly appreciated. I am going to hunt deer from tree stand here in Kentucky and hogs in Tenn and Georgia. Thanks guys

I have long arms, so love the Leupolds for their eye relief. With some other brands when I use an extended two hand grip, I'm just past the extent of the eye relief.

Burris signature rings are my favorite for magnums, I've had trouble keeping the scopes from moving in the rings on a 454 with other brand rings.

Simmons 2-6x in aligned and lapped Millets. Hasn't moved a bit in hundreds of ruger only rounds, mostly 240grns, but a lot of 300grns. Would rather have another Leupold 2-6x on this one, but the Simmons has done quite well for me.

Ones arm length and shooting style determines what scope works best. For me the bushnell elite 2-6 has worked the best with their trophy second. I have punished a couple of these on some large single shots bolt actions and revolvers with no glitches or hiccups. FYI the eye relief stays very consistant through the ranges.
That is my biggest gripe on others. The more X's the less eye relief.
I have a couple of leupolds and a few Burris scopes. Glass is just as good on all three. I will admit the Leupold has a slight edge over the bushnell in low light shooting conditions.
Don't let your pocket be your guide to purchasing glass. Save up and cry once.

My two favorite handgun scopes are a 2x Nikon and a 2x6 Bushnell Trophy. Depending on how far you intend to shoot, a red dot may also work for you. I Have the 2x Nikon on a 12" TC Encore and shoot it out to 100 yards. I have a Red Dot on my Redhawk and keep it under 60 yards for hunting.

UltraDot. No worries about eye relief nor parralax. And you can see your reticle in the lowest of lighting conditions, even pitch dark.

I use a Burris 2x7 /32mm plex and love it at 2-4x. Much higher that the 2-4x and the eye relief gets sketchy, but 4x seems to work good for me up to the 100yd mark. The light gathering ability of the Burris is awesome IMO due to the fact that the white tails in southern TN only seem to want to play about 5 minutes before dark. LOL

I had it on my 7.5 Hunter 44mag for the last 2 seasons shooting some pretty hot 240gr XTPs with 0 issues and have also tossed a few deer grenades down the barrel and the scope stays 0ed for me. It's a 350.00$ scope when you find the bargain, but worth every penny for me due to the fact that I am so dam near sighted!

The only handgun scope I have ever used is an old Leupold m8-2x on my Super Blackhawk. I traded some ammo for it used last year. I'm working on the assumption that its hard to go wrong with a Leupold.

I know the scope doesn't match the gun. I have a friend with the same scope in blued. We are going to swap whenever I can remember to. Haha.
