I had read that the Federal 357B 125g JHP was the "premium" SD round for the 357 magnum handgun. And that the similar weight Remington round was also a good choice. I thought I would try them out in my new Ruger GP100 4" Then, when I went to look for it, I find it quite hard to find, and backordered for months. Is this considered a top quality round, and where can one find it?

Seems I remember reading somewhere that the 125 gr .357 mag had the distinction of having the most "one shot stops" of all handgun rounds in a "social encounter".... :shock:

There has been an ammo shortage for the last 2 years. Some ammo has not been available, although the situation is getting better. Here is Federal 158gr Hydra-Shok. They also make 125gr and 132gr low recoil Hydra-Shok in 357 magnum. The 38 Special+P is also good stuff.

The jacketed lead hollow points you linked to, although they are still popular, they are not the best performing bullets for self defense. The newer generation of jacketed bullets, (Hyda-Shok, XTP, Gold Dot, etc) have better penetration through material like glass and higher percentage of expansion, also they tend to not clog when going through clothing.
