O.K. we've surveyed the lady (?) singers, now how about the men?

Mine:

Eddy Arnold

Don Edwards

Johnny Cash

Tex Ritter

How about yours?

Bob Wright

Warren Zevon

Tom Petty

Meat Loaf

Toby Keith

Blake Shelton

Maybe the greatest singer of religious music:

George Beverly Shea.

He was soloist with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Team for many, many years. It was said of him that he sang before more people in live campaigns than any other singer today.

Again, I could write a very long list of my favorite male singers. Here are just a few. Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, George Jones, Kenny Rogers, Andy Williams, Simon and Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, Roy Clark.

Let’s not forget to add Marty Robbins to this already fine list. Loved him sense I was a boy listening to dad’s records.

Roy Orbison. My God, what a voice that man had!
Dean Martin was sure smooth, easy listening- especially at Christmas time.
Gator89 brought up Raul Malo and I'll agree on him, too. A terrific voice . If you listen to him singing Roy Orbison's "crying" it's almost spooky how much he sounds like Roy Orbison.

Buckshot Bill

Roy Orbison #1 I have a copy of "Roy Orbison, a Black and White Night". It was a taping of him appearing at the Coconut Grove in LA. He had Bruce Springstein with him and a bunch of other well known names. Orbison and Springstein jammed together and Springstein looked like he was completely amazed at being there with Roy Orbison. If you can find that CD, buy it. Orbison had an amazing operatic voice. He could go from a high falsetto down to a deep bass without his voice breaking. There will never be another one like him.

I'm really shocked that no one here mentioned Hank Williams :!: Hey Good Lookin' my absolute favorite.

Gator89 did--both Senior and Junior.

No one said "Slim Whitman" or "Box Car Willie"
Odd

Many mentioned are right up there but I'll go with Tom Petty

George Jones
Merle Haggard
George Straight
Vern Gosdin
Alan Jackson
Randy Travis
Don Williams
Marty Robbins
Jim Reeves
Jonny Horton
Don Gibson
Gene Watson
Vince Gill
Lefty Frizzell
Hank Williams

The first name that popped in my head was Johnny Cash. After that Hank Jr. & Sr., George Strait, David Allan Coe (not the politically incorrect song everyone hates), George Jones, and the list could go on & on.

Snake,

Generation gap here. Meat Loaf is the only one I've ever heard of!

Bob, allow me to introduce you to the late great Warren Zevon. I think you'll enjoy this performance:

And here's a couple songs that feature TWO multi-mentions in this thread, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison. You might recognize a couple other familiar faces, too.

My favorites:

Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)
David Bowie
Neil Young
Roy Orbison
Tom Petty
Till Lindeman (Ramstein)

I really liked most of the singers noted , but I totally agree with several of the posters on Roy Orbison, in my opinion NOBODY could sing as well as this man .
