Just picked up a GP-100 that I have had an eye out for some time – a three-inch barreled, fixed sighted model. Found it new at a Gun Show on Saturday, October 15. Is fresh out of the factory, with the “fired cartridge” date being just two weeks earlier – September 29.

Has the Hogue grips, which are much too large for this gun for my taste.

Quickly replaced them with an older pair of the “proper” style.

The trigger pulls, both single and double action, are nice – smooth, not gritty. And not overly heavy at 4 1/2 and 10 pounds, respectively.

All the markings are laser cut, not stamped. And the “billboard” is less wordy than on previous models I have seen. Has the Newport NH location, and the eagle with only an “R” in it.

First trip to the range showed that with 158 grainers POI = POA.

You're gonna love it!

Congrats!

I recently picked up a 3-incher in blue and one in stainless. Shot them both last weekend. Both mine have the compact grips too with the wood.

Just being honest not sassy- I do not like either set of grips. Can you still find the ones with the wood insert ? I have these on my 2006 model 4 inch.
The 3" GP has a grip stud like all the other GP's and can wear any GP-100 grips. The smaller 'compact' grips look better on the shorter barrel and they conceal better. The standard 'compact' grip uses the inserts from the SP-101 grip. Of course there are many kinds of inserts that can be installed. 8) 8)

Here's a picture to show the three factory-supplied GP-100 grips.

I just bought the same gun "gently used" out the door for $475. I have wanted one for a while - my first GP was a 4" 327 7-shot.

I like it alot - the grips are good for full-house loads but they are too big really.

Mine had the fired cartidge dated April 2011 so it was pretty new.

Enjoy the new acquisition!

I looked at one yesterday. I was really impressed with the quality, lightness, and size. I'm really glad to see the factory went to the trouble to have them Cal DOJ roster-certified for sale to folks in Calipoornia.

I'll probably get one. But, I'd want one in .327 Mag even more!
