Extra cylinders

Hondo 44, I don't think swapping cylinders is better at this point in history.

Jeepnik, I do think you want an excuse to have a second cylinder. Sooooooo do it. It is a free country. Yet anyway.....................

That's alright to think whatever. But by better I mean faster. I can unload and load PDQ after years at Cowboy shooting. But I beat that hands down almost immediately swapping cylinders as per Jeepnik! Even being carefull not to bang up the 2nd cylinder putting it in. Have you tried it? If you just don't like it that's fine with me.

Been doing it with the Single Six, and the Blackhawk cylinder is in the works. Oh yea, I already said that.

Let us know how it works out for you. Like other s.a. shooters, I've also thought about this in the past but never spent any time and money to pursue it further. I use my s.a. guns for hunting and as good 'working' guns for the ranch, & as woods guns. So, I never thought in terms of round capacity or fast reloads. I thought, at most, I'd carry a loaded 45ACP cylinder with my 45Colt Blackhawk convertible and a lightweight J-frame back-up. I never actually did this, though. Figured a dozen extra cartridges on my belt were a good balance of fire power without the extra weight & bulk. Please let us know how it works out, and any things you learn in terms of technique and gear with your new cylinder.

Ruger makes a dandy double 10/22 magazine belt pouch. But it actually fits Ruger mid-size frame cylinders perfectly. I also use it to carry the mag cylinder for my single six. It's very versatile. It has a hole in the bottom of each pouch to push the cylinder up and out right into the plam of your hand.

So you remove the empty cylinder from the gun, drop it into the empty pouch then pop out the extra loaded cylinder from the other pouch and drop in the gun.
