For you fellas who have more than one Single Six Convertible, how do you keep your spare cylinders separate so you know which one goes to which gun? Does any one have any ideas of a good way to mark them?

I just came home with my 6th Single Six (all .22 cal New Models). Four of them are blued, two are high gloss stainless, and I'm afraid it won't be long before I start getting the cylinders mixed up between them.

Walmart hang-tag (string tied loop) with description of revolver (ruger om 4 5/8 bbl) s/n xxx attached to spare cyl is what I do.

For one thing in case y ou lose track, each cylinder is marked on the front side with the last two numbers of the serial number.

They are engraved with a hand engraver, apparently the kind of pen engraver you and I would use, so they are hard to see unless the cylinder face is absolutely spotless clean.

The two numbers will not be together, like 26.

They will be at something like 10 and 2 o'clock or 3 and 9 or whatever.

I read somewhere that you should turn down any deal where the numbers did not match the serial number as that would mean they do not match the barrel.

Mine have the last 3 digits of the s/n etched at the factory.

I never shoot .22 mag. Too loud, too expensive and too much hassle.

I need more power than a .22 LR? .32 H&R Mag is awesome!

Yep, a .32 mag was next on my list until I ran across a good deal on a 9 1/2" convertible at the gun shop today. Guess that .32 will have to wait til next month :(

And thanks for the info about the numbers on the front of the cylinder. I've noticed them, but never realized that they matched the SN.
