Does anybody know if Ruger will fit a cylinder in 45acp to a .45 colt chambered Vaquero. It is not a convertible and only came with one cylinder in 45colt but I would like to have the option to load acp on my Dillon.

Thanks,
Bob

I think Ruger's current policy is they will fit a extra cylinder only if the revolver originally shipped as a convertible. You can call Ruger's customer service to make sure.

Post a WTB in the classifieds or check G-Bro and Ebay, etc. You need the length to be the same or slightly longer than your 45 Colt cylinder. If longer you can stone a little off the front hub. Easy DIY project.

As stated I doubt Ruger will do it to a non convertible gun. But will add that it is a project that is worth the effort. .45acp in a single action is a lot of fun.

Worse case scenario find a used convertible Blackhawk, buy it and send it in for a new cylinder then sell it again.

Good luck.

Ruger will not sell or fit a different cylinder than what came with the gun originally.

Period.

They can tell by the serial number what the original configuration was. That said, if you find one on ebay, gun broker, or someone here on the forum, be sure you know what you need. Do you have an old model Vaquero with the larger frame or the new model with the mod-size frame - the cylinders will not interchange. Measure your existing cylinder and look for one that size or slightly larger (lengthwise, from the front bearing surface to the back side of the star.) You may be able to shim if you have a shorter one, but that may open up the barrel/cylinder gap. Search for info here on the forum, I have written extensive commentary on just this subject describing my own experiences.
