English styled M600

I like the look of the old English sporting rifles. I whittled on an old stock that I made about 20 years ago for my Remington 600 Mohawk in .308 Win.

GammaRay, It shoots very well. I have shot groups as small as 5/8". Most 308 ammo, hand and factory loads will shoot MOA. It must be that short thick barrel that helps it out a lot. After putting it back into this renovated stock, I went to the range this Monday with 7 rounds of ammo. I got it zeroed with 4 rounds and fired the other 3 for a group of 7/8". I bought the rifle new in 1974 for $149.99 It has killed many deer and hogs over the years. When I look at this rifle, it brings back many fond hunting memories.

Great little rifle; glad you took a rather strange little gun and made it a little classic!

I find that most .308s shoot well; never had one that didn't, even with factory ammo. The cartridge seems very well balanced to use a wide range of bullet weights, styles, and powders. Only caliber I've found that is as "easy to feed" is the old .222 Rem.

I have an old Ruger Ultralight .308 that would always shoot MOA with just about anything right out of the box. It will shoot 1/2" 3-shot groups at 100yards all day long with medium power handloads with Sierra 125 gr. Spitzers, and doesn't kick much either. I shoot the same load in the .308 barrel of a Savage/Valmet combination (12 ga/.308) gun and it will shoot under MOA all day long as well. I like .308s and you have made a dandy. Gotcher money's worth, I'd say!
