Headed to Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg for a couple of days (Oct3-Oct6) before going to Contenders for the East Coast Gathering. Have vacationed there a few times but want some insider info on where to "must see/go to eat" Looking for best bang for the buck. Have eaten at the Alamo-Pigeon Forge, Joe's Crab Shack and a few interesting looking small places. Who has the best eats/dinner show? Know exactly where SMKW/Coleman/Buds/Lodge Cast Iron is (we always spend at least half a day in that small area). Always spend half a day or more in Gatlinburg and was thinking of taking the drive (Historic Nature Trail Loop).

Apple Barn has a breakfast to die for. We always make the drive through Cade's Cove.

The Best Italian Cafe & Pizzeria on the strip in Gatlinburg has pretty good grub.

Cade's Cove is an interesting area-good for viewing animals and historic buildings. Horse back rides are also available. The Aquarium in Gatlinburg is good. Bennett's BBQ in Pigeon Forge, Damon's in Sevierville. Enjoy!

Paula Deen has a great place at The Island in Pigeon Forge, Dolly Parton has two great places with a show, and there is a catfish place across the road from the Island that is great. You might want to ride that ginormous Ferris wheel at the Island while while you are there.
Yes, I over used "great", but it's our favorite place to visit. You can save a lot of miles going to Cade's Cove if you go through Townsend. There is also a cave to visit there if you're so inclined. I also like to take a day and go to Cherokee, get a Tribal fishing license and fish the tribal waters for trout. Watch out for elk........

I thought Damons had closed couple years ago. That is the same one that sits up on the hill with white fence all around? Great food there though!

Damon's was there in March, 2016, not sure of status now. They are not gun friendly.

Maybe the one I'm thinking was in Pigeon Forge but it didn't seem to be open last July when we were there. Sits up on a hill on the right heading towards Gatlinburg on the main blvd.

The Alamo Steakhouse burned in the December fires down there. They are rebuilding it now. We went down there last week. We have been to every show there at some point in time. The Smoky Mountain Opry is our favorite entertainment, but it is show only- no food. The Lumberjack dinner show was bought by Dolly and changed 100%. Now it's a history lesson... Dolly's Dixie Stampede is always fun with good food. The Hatfield-McCoy Feud dinner show will keep bringing you food as long as you want it, and it is some good country food and decent entertainment. In Gatlinburg, there is small theater called Sweet Fannie Adams. No food, but it is by far the best entertainment for the buck in the area IMO. Our favorite restaurant in PF easily is the Old Mill (on Old Mill Drive, coincidentally). And for the most awesome treat we have ever had in our travels through the good ol' U.S.- should you do the drive through the GSMNP and come out in Cherokee NC (what a beautiful drive it is through the Smokies)- go straight on down the road around a mile- until you come to a place on the right called Paul's. Order an Indian taco!!! I can't stress that enough. We have never had anything that even remotely resembles the taste of those.

In case you can't tell- we love that entire area. And it's only 6 hours from our home.

In Cherokee, NC, is a restaurant that has Rainbow trout that is to die for. Something like the Black Bear or similar name. The trout is alive til you order it. FRESH!
