Moving up from the lower 48 to Alaska and not bringing anything through Canada, had to stop in Anchorage to pick this up🙂 Sure would like to find the right factory box for it.

Very nice, I just picked up a 1970 model and I can finally sleep through most of the night now. Great guns!
I've contemplated moving to Alaska all my life, going through Canada is not an option for me and the substantial amount of hardware that would make Truduh stroke out. I looked at barge from Seattle as a pretty good option. I decided if I ever do move up there I will probably cut back to about 40 or so must have guns to make it easier.

Perhaps next year, Alaska will start operating the cross-gulf ferry from Bellingham, WA to Whittier or Valdez. It was shut down last year for the stated reason of lack of staff; no body wants to work anymore after the covid handouts. I've taken it a couple times to take things "prohibited" in CA.

The OM .41 mags are superb handguns. Finding a box for one is harder than most might imagine. And they usually aren't cheap when found. Even harder,, find the original book-wrap shipper. Hah!

Boxes are out there,, but expect to pay around $125-$175 or so.

So are you saying that I probably did ok at $850 on this brand-new-in-box, unconverted .41 just a year ago? :)

Heck yes,, you did good! NICE one!

Depending upon which variety of OM .41 you got,, here's a RENE Guide price listing;
Non-"Inc" barrel, $960.00
Non-Prefix, with "Inc" : $835.00
40-prefix version; $760.00
Then the box is worth; $140.00

I got out of the .41 business some years ago, loved the caliber but trying to streamline the inventory of components, bullet molds, and such - I sold all my .41s and .45 Colts and just kept .44 Special and Magnum and .38/.357. I had .44s that I wouldn't part with for family connection reasons. However, if I were starting over today I'd seriously consider. 41 mag as the only big bore sixgun needed. It will certainly do the job. Here's my last .41 to go, a no prefix old model 4 5/8".
