I recall a thread about this some years back, but couldn't find it. Anyhow, I changed my ISP, so my old address is defunct. Rather than use my new provider for e-mail, I figured I'd use one that will stay with me if I change my ISP again (which is pretty likely, as there are plans to get fiber optic lined out to my area). I chose outlook.com and set up the account, notified all my contacts, and changed my profile on the couple forums and other sites I use. Then came the Ruger forum, where I get the message that I can't use an outlook.com address.

Anybody remember the work-around for this?

I think the mods have to go in and "approve" the email. It's a protection against spammers if I recall correctly. Some servers are too "open" & used by spammers. Contact a mod to be sure.

I have tried to get my Gmail approved and never got a reply.

Actually you did. Four years ago when you first brought it up. Clearly it wasn't the answer you wanted.

Four years later we still don't know why you don't get those notifications. We also don't know what, if anything, you've done to address the issue with your ISP or PC or whatever device it is you use to access the forum.

We're not flooded with droves of members telling us they have the same problem you experience. Not saying it's not happening .... just that it's evidently not a big issue. Regardless, we Mods don't know how to fit it for you. I

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
Once the email is accepted & approved,, you won't have problems Kevin.

As noted,, many servers are used by spammers, hackers etc to invade forums etc. This place was set up long ago to TRY & prevent them from getting here. For the most part,, it works really well. Only occasionally do we get any spams, or hacked.
KUDOS to the ones who set this up. (I know Flatgate was involved!)

The downside is new folks wanting to register,, with sites like yahoo or google will be blocked until the email can be approved, showing you are an actual person & not a machine etc.

I'm not a computer geek, and I may not have explained this the best,, but it's what I understand was done long ago.
