yes, in the manual, the term they use is "dry fire" , this being to lower the hammer on an empty chamber. No there is no issue with this,but to sit there and repeatedly pull the trigger and lower the hammer on a gun ,especially any rimfire, I suggest putting in a snap cap or a spent shell to at least absorb the shock (impact) of the firing pin......over and and over yes, you can cause harm, something break, fail or one may even "forget" to put the firing pin "stop" back in after cleaning...have seen this over and over , all these years...yes, , we see and hear some folks say they dry fire their guns all the time and have NO problems...I say they are either lucky or fortunate as we've repaired many, MANY rimfires since the late 1960s.......$#it happens, and all too often........................ :roll:
