Everyone has his own ideas and solutions. I taught blind Son to protect himself using a soft air P89 replica and an 8" diameter target that beeped until a hit changed the sound to a buzzer. At 10-15 feet, he hit the target far more times than missed.
I'm sure I have zero credentials as a CQB 'trainer' but I sure as heck accomplished my goal. Spatial awareness is vital in a full dark environment. If you don't have that, you'd better use a light.
