The word "Y'all"... What the hell is a Y'all? It should be "You all"..

And the word "Ax" when used in, "Let me Ax you a question."

Ok, so "come back soon you all" is proper english?

Shouldn't it be "come back soon, all of you"?

Or maybe it should be "come back soon, all youse guys".

How about, "All of you come back soon."

Actually, to be honest, I just kinda through the whole "Y'all" thing in to screw with a few folks on here.. Just to have a bit of fun with a few folks that use it at times on the board. The real thing that irritates me is the word Ax, when used to ask a question..

And the whole "youse guys" thing is part of the Brooklyn NY Dialect.. Italian version that is.. :lol:

What really bugs me lately is "Come with", or "Go with", omitting the "me" that I feel should end such a sentence.

When I moved here 20 years ago from the northeast, that really bugged me!!
You wait for the "ending" that never comes.
Could be other words besides "me" being omitted too, like "him" or "her" or "them".
Just starting to accept it now lol, but I still use the end word.

When I was about 9, we moved to Texas from New Jersey. The first time we got something at a quickie mart, after the purchase the checker told my Dad Ya'll come back. My Dad turned around and walked back to the check stand. I think he did that twice before he finally caught on.

By the way, youse guys was not limited to Brooklyn. I lived in Pennsylvania, right across the river from Trenton New Jersey. I can remember my sister when talking to two of her friends "Are youse two going with us? It seems that two people or more were "youse".

I'm glad any of that stuff didn't manage to stick with me.

Speaking of "youse guys".. ever heard a youth referred to as a "yute" or how about yutes? As in, Those yutes are trouble makers.. Another east coast thing.. They were saying the word "Youths" But it just comes out with that east coast accent..

Thankfully, I left NY as a teenager before that stuff stuck with me permanently.. I don't talk like that today.. Right youse guys? Ahh, fogetaboutit..

Me and a friend drove to MS for fishing several years ago. We got a laugh when we bought beer and the cashier asked if we want it put in a sack (instead of bag). When he got his fishing license, the girl writing it up asked how to spell Chicago . It seemed like she never heard of it before. Fun times...
