Anyone else dealing with gout?

I suffered with gout for a couple of decades. Tried all of the common gout remedies and nothing worked to lower my uric acid. I was on allopurinol and colchicine. I would take 4 ibuprofen every 4 hours during an attack until the pain was gone. I started carnivore diet and quit alcohol April 2023 for other health reasons. My uric acid levels declined, and I was taken off of the gout meds. Not sure if it was the diet or removal of alcohol, but I can definitely say that red meat does NOT cause gout (all I eat now is beef, bacon and eggs. I haven't had a gout attack since and no more meds!

I had my first severe gout attack 10 years ago. Woke me up middle of the night. Couldn't even let the sheet touch my big toe. I was coaching football back then I could barely walk, let alone get sock/shoe on. My entire foot was swollen. I got all the typical remedies thrown at me that were mentioned here. It was late August and I was well hydrated as coaches needed to lead by example. Tart cherry juice, remove red meats, no seafood, etc... finall broke down and saw the Doc....Colchicine cleared it up in a few days but caused severe diarrhea. I've had it several times, including a couple weeks ago. Back to the Colchicine and diarrhea.

Many people think they have THE cure. But everyone can and will react differently. Just because it works for you doesn't mean it works for someone else.

I took the 90 day carnivore diet challenge and ended up staying on it. Gout and arthritis went away. Veggies have toxic self protection that causes inflammation in humans and carbs keep you unhealthy. I lost 45 lbs and forgot all about gout until I read this post.
Never heard of it.
Sounds a bit contradictory.

From the Cleveland Clinic.
The best way to prevent gout is to limit how often you consume high-purine foods and drinks. Make sure you drink plenty of water to help your kidneys function better and avoid dehydration.

Getting regular exercise can help reduce stress on your joints and reduce your risk for obesity and other health conditions that make you more likely to develop gout.

My experience as well! I ended up losing 110 lbs in less than 12 mths. 2.5 years now, I wish I would’ve started this decades ago. 💪🏼

They always ask you to rate your pain 1-10. I had a serious issue several years ago that set a new #10 high pain level for me.
When I got gout in my right big toe a few years ago, I rated it at an 8+. Terrible pain that seemed like a slight breeze mad it worse, just like the shingles when I got them. Saw the urgent care doc the same day, got some of that Colchicine, cleared it right up.
Followed up with an appt to my regular vet a couple weeks later, he checked the uric acid levels and they were normal by then. He said that I needed to stay more hydrated, which I admit I was never good at doing. Now I try to drink water several times a day and (knock on wood) haven't had another bout of gout. Now there's a situation where if they developed a vaccine for it, I'd be the first in line. Ain't nobody got time for that kind of pain!

Regarding pain rating, I always preface my answer with an example of a ten. Seeing the spine doc yesterday I explained that a ten was passing a kidney stone, while a twelve was being sprayed with molten sulfur. So when I explained that my back was an 8 she took notice.

My father had such a high threshold for pain. He would tell them about a 2, if his hand was chopped off.

I never say over an 8, if you say 10 too quickly they think you are drug seaking.
