Mike,

The gunsite scout rifle (GSR) bolt guide rails are machined differently to accomodate the feed lips on the magazine. The M77's feed lips are an integral part of the bottom of the bolt guide rails.

To adapt the GSR magazine to the M77, the bottom of the M77 rails would have to be ground down about the thickness of the metal used on the GSR magazine. Also the M77 floorplate and triggerguard would need to be replaced by the GSR magazine and triggerguard assembly.
