I think I must be the only person on the world that wants these grips.

I have a 1971 Single Six 22LR revolver. It is the old-style 3 screw variety. One of the last years they made this model I reckon.
I has its correct original solid walnut medallion grips. Fine. It is the XR3-RED frame by all accounts.

I would like to find a set of old original-style black plastic checkered grips for it. The kind found on the original single sixes, the XR3 frame pistols. Simple plastic checkered grips that can actually be found standard on some of the new single sixes like Vaqueros and even on some 22 single sixes.

It seems that there are no reproduction or new manufacture XR3-RED black plastic checkered grips.
Does anyone know if a source for these???

Bewildered.

Put a WANTED in the classifieds. Those grips came standard on many of the new models a few years ago. The locator pin hole will need to be enlarged but otherwise they will fit fine.

Nope. Called them and no Black plastic grips available for the XR3-RED frame. And besides they wont sell me anything anyway because The pistol hasnt been neutered.

But thanks for the suggestion.

I have some New Models with locks that came with the black plastic grips w/silver medalions.

Clement,

You guns does have the XR3-RED grip frame. Black grips were never made for the old model in that grip size. However any black grips for the blue New Model Single Six and blue standard Blackhawk (non-flat top) with or w/o lock will fit w/o even needing to adjust the locator dowel hole.

Do what Chance suggested, most of the original black grips get changed out and are probably stacking up in drawers all over the country. Probably get a pair cheap.

Or call Ruger, Brownells or Midway but don't tell them what you want them for. Most service reps have no idea which grips will interchange.Tell them you need replacements or a spare set for you new model single six or standard Blackhawk. Also ask for the grip spacer so you don't have to worry about over tightening them, Ruger Part # XR01009.

Ruger is still putting the xr3-red black plastic grips on the current production blackhawks and single sixes. If you just say they are for my brand new new model single six I think they will sell you a set. They get squirrely when you start talking old models with them!
