Seems I get asked to write a review for everything I buy and everything I do on the internet. I also get them from doctors and the hospital for just a chest x-ray. If they get my email they are asking for a review. Amazon and Ebay are the worst. I NEVER fill them out but I keep getting 2nd and 3rd requests to do a review. The only one lately I actually wanted to do was for the two 18 volt flashlight bulbs I bought from Ryobi on Amazon that burned out within 5 minutes. I'm still thinking about it. Is this one of those glass 1/2 full things? :?

Hi,

I get those requests all the time and most of the time I ignore them. Once in a while I'll answer a really ridiculous one, like buying a bottle of aspirin at the drug store.

"Please tell us your experience:" will get something like "I drove into the parking lot, got out of the car, walked inside the store and then went to find the aspirin. I was successful and took it to the clerk who took my money, gave me some change, and I walked out the store again.

It was truly an amazing experience!"

I think some people have dropped me from their list of approved reviewers!

I respond only if I think it might matter and I feel strongly about the experience, e.g. exceptionally good to exceptionally poor service.

Wrote one on Yelp. The told me they deleted it because I was too negative. Replied back "Truth Hurt?" Never got asked again.

Only on certain items for specific reasons. Just tonight I wrote a review for an oil free compressor rebuild kit, my compressor was not listed but I bought it after doing a bunch of cross referencing. It was a perfect fit bit the screw provided for the piston was the wrong thread(this the reason my compressor was not listed). I felt my review could be helpful to let others know this kit works fine, you just have to re-use your original piston screw.

Yep.... I think I can drive by my doctor's office and the next day I'll get a request to review it.... and Amazon is the same.....

this request for reviews is probably more a marketing program to make you think you are important to the company asking for it....

Only if it is junk, or I can supply useful info.

Example- I have been looking for adapters that go from thread pitch A to pitch B. For whatever reason they love to say pitch A and diameter B but not the threads. I reviewed to supply future searchers the answer i couldn't find.

I do quite a bit of internet buying and as a consequence, get a LOT of review requests. If I consider the seller gave superior service, I state that in my review. If the product was not what was advertised, that gets a review with explanation of reason. If I get stiffed, that gets a scathing review with reasons for the low rating. I don't review every part and bit that I buy. That would take too much time.
I just gave a "BLAH" rating to an ebay seller who gave me a partial refund rather than send a return label and give me a full refund. He went the cheap road and got burned. Have another 1 star rating waiting for a seller who waited 3 weeks to ship and is refusing to send a return label and give a refund. One more has been 'warned' that selling something they don't have and hoping it shows up in time is not good business. That one will get a 1 star rating also.
I can understand that there are shipping problems but when 2 orders are claimed to be shipped from the same general area of the country at the same time and one arrives in 3 days while the other is still listed as "label prepared" 3 weeks later, that's a problem.

I leave reviews on bigger purchases online. Mostly Amazon. I’ve been burned too many times on EBay to go back there at all. Amazon also has questions, which people who have bought the item can answer. I do that more so than leave reviews. Those questions and answers to directly to help a person. And I figure if I can help someone and make the internet just a little more friendly, all the better.

I am hounded nearly daily for reviews of the latest products or services I've purchased. I have discovered too many places will not accept honest reviews when such a review is not glowing, so I've mostly given up. In fairness, I've written very positive reviews when they're deserved, also. Those are always accepted.

I read reviews on the things I buy. I was asked to write a review after some purchases. When I tried to post the review, they wanted a bunch of information I was not willing to provide. It appeared the review process was more an information mining ploy than service provided to future buyer. After that experience I declined all request for reviews. I will be glad to provide information on my experience purchasing and using products. I do not jump through hoops, nor provide information not needed for the purpose.

I said NEVER before but that isn't completely true. I have left reviews for a few products like a refrigerator and for a part for my cloths washer, both good reviews, but here is one that really gets me.

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Original-Cartridge-N9K02AN-DeskJet/dp/B01BYKUI9C/ref=rvi_34/140-0072851-2453618?pd_rd_w=Gj3vc&pf_rd_p=c0296674-5a83-4ad6-b035-0702d2b359df&pf_rd_r=9BW1CTYS5KKN0JK8R2M1&pd_rd_r=0ebb268f-8cd1-4108-9353-ec629fe26566&pd_rd_wg=tO1vt&pd_rd_i=B01BYKUI9C&psc=1

This ink cartridge from HP has 63,000 reviews. WOW

The reviews can be great reading. The Amazon reviews for sugar free gummie bears for example will have you laughing so hard you won’t be able to breath.
