Do you have a Blackhawk .357/9mm?

I am looking to buy one of these and am wondering who might own one to give me an opinion. I am wondering how accurate the 9mm is on this gun? Someone is telling me that because the 9mm round is slightly smaller, it tends to "bounce" out the barrel thus making the 9mm not very accurate. Any opinions appreciated.

I have two, and shoot the .357/38 cylinder most. The 9mm cylinder is fine for everyday plinking and pretty decent out to about 25 yards. It's just not a tack driver. I get about 3" groups at ten yards, and slightly bigger at 25, but I'm old and don't see as well as I once did. About the only reason to have the convertible is if you want to shoot up extra 9mm ammo, or just because it's another Ruger you gotta have.

My experience is similar. The 9mm cylinder works fine and accuracy is acceptable for plinking etc. The bullet certainly doesn't bounce in the barrel. Recovered bullets showed rifling marks.

As previously stated, this is a great option if you want to shoot up some 9mm ammo. For example, say you get cheap 9mm, or if you reload, you might find a load that won't cycle your auto, but will work fine in the revolver.

I have 2 - 4+" and 6+".

I only shoot 9mm out of them so I can't compare whether they shoot better w/357 cylinder.
For me the 9mm cylinder is more accurrate than I can shoot them.
But that is not saying a lot since it takes a lot of practice to shoot that BKH grips.
Yes, I bought them because it is a nice Ruger to have in the collection and it is cheaper to shoot 9mm than 38/357.

I do like the 4" better than the 6".

If I want to shoot 38/357, I shoot w/my SW.

Ah, back before I was really into Rugers around 1970, I had a very nice early 3 screw in .357/9mm. I let it go fairly cheap. Would like to have "that" one back. Oh, it also had a "duplicate" serial number. D30-97906!..................Dick

I read Linebaugh's article on the 45 Colt, bought a Ruger 45, never looked back. Hard to justify anything smaller than 45 in a full size sixgun. Heck, the only reason I own a lowly 44 is because OM Supers didn't come in 45!

I have 1 and it shoots pretty good with the 9mm and shoots fine with the 38's. I like it so well that I am going to the gun show tomorrow looking for another one. I will take a 7.5"44 to trade and will give a little boot If necessary to get a new one. My wife enjoys shooting 38's and I only have 1 357 blackhawk I have 3 of the 44's

Thanks guys. Yeah, just looking to add another to my collection. I have the .45 colt/acp convertible, .44 mag and a .357 blackhawk already.

When I owned a 9mm, I discovered the true utility for the 9mm cylinder in my BH convertible. That being the ability to discharge any lousy 9mm loading I made, even squibs. Much better than dis-assembling bad loads.

When I swapped my 9mm for a new 1911, the nightmares went away.

BH convertibles are still the best sixgun bargain, regardless of caliber.
