I'm returning to shooting after a 35 year hiatus. I grew up on a farm and spent many evenings target shooting with my dad, but I haven't shot much since I left for college. I purchased 2 Ruger 10/22's for Christmas (2016) to shoot with my 14 year old daughter. We joined a local shooting range and shoot at least once a week. Both of us really enjoy it. We are going to take our first Appleseed training class in April. I have a Ruger 10/22 Takedown Lite, and she has a Ruger 10/22 Walnut Sporter. I put the BX Trigger in my Takedown Lite, and sent her trigger off to Brimstone for a Tier 1 job. I prefer the Brimstone modified trigger to the Ruger BX trigger. It's tighter, meaning no wiggle side to side, front to back, etc. It has an adjustable sear and they take up all the slack in the pre-travel so it's just a lite, consistent, smooth motion from start to bang. It has the auto-bolt release modification which I really miss on the BX Trigger. I sent the trigger to Brimstone via USPS Priority Mail and they sent me an email 2 days later telling me they received it and that backlog was about 5 days. True to their word, I received an email with shipping confirmation 5 days later and received the trigger 2 days after that. Exceptional communication. For side-by-side comparison, I now have the original stock trigger from my takedown lite, a BX now installed on my takedown lite, and a Tier 1 Brimstone on my Daughter's sporter. For the reasons I said above, I much prefer the Tier 1 Brimstone.
I also considered doing the full tuneup from Connecticut Precision Chambering which includes, Trigger, Bolt, and Barrel for $189 + sh. They get great reviews as well and it's one stop shopping. I would have gone this way, but their backlog is 45+ days and I didn't have the patience.
