My friends is this the new hot topic instead of global warming? This is ubiquitous, and kills lots of people every year!

Deadliest substances known to mankind. Too much or too little will kill you. And the darned stuff covers most of the earth’s surface.

But it’s been good to me. Provided a great income and now retirement. I should be thankful every day people’s understanding of if is so poor.

Last twenty years as a Water Quality Consultant. Prior to that I was in the refining industry where water plays a very important part of the process. Not bad for a chemist who once thought he'd be a firefighter. Oh, yea. I started as a fireman. Learning about and using water is sort of important to those folks.

I guess it makes sense. I'm a Pisces.

I have recommended for many years when people are having trouble with dog walkers letting their pooch poop on their law that they post a sign that states "Keep Off! - Lawn Treated Daily with Dihydrogen Monoxide". Seems to solve the problem in most cases.

It's a little late for April Fools where that story began.

What's really sad is a Snopes thought it necessary to "fact-check" an obvious joke...or maybe I should say what's really sad is there are people that are so...let's say, uneducated, that they'd need an obvious joke fact-checked.

Glad you all liked it. I am in a “birding group”, and one of the members posted about it. Good thing I have had a smattering of chemistry! :)

Hi,

Might want to warn them not to be adding any free oxygen atoms to that mix!

Yep! Boom! If an ignition source occurs.

Next thing you know you will be trying to make us believe Carbon Dioxide is a poison. It is good for plants and bad for humans. I didn't make that up.

Hi,

Does anyone remember this thing called "the carbon cycle?" Shoulda been about 8th grade science class...

It's amazing how Nature was able to take care of this place for several billion years before the two legged locust invasion hit and thought they'd take over for her. ;)

I like the latest one they've come up with, "PFOA". I forget what product it was now but I'm sure glad it has none of them PAFOWAS. i wish I could remember the product so I could confidently buy it.

By the way, I wish they would at least explain what a PAFOWA is.

Hi,

Here ya go, Cary:

https://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancer-causes/teflon-and-perfluorooctanoic-acid-pfoa.html

It looks like it's used in making Teflon, among other products, but pretty much "burns off" in the manufacturing process, so the most likely danger from your Teflon pan that had some PFOA involvement is somebody might pick it up and use it to flatten the side of your head (even if cast iron does a better job!)

Another one of those "sky is falling"chemicals we're exposed to constantly?
