Different looking B. H. Cylinder?

I stoped at a garage sale today and the guy had some rifles and some misc. Ruger Blackhawk parts. One was a cylinder .357 mag that he said came from a Blackhawk. It did look like a BH cylinder except the rim of the .357 case was counter sunk into the face of the cylinder and there was a 1/8" to 3/16 wide grove cut all the way arround the cylinder, I would assume to allow the cylinde to rotate if the firing pin was sticking out some. The ratchet on the cykinder did not extend as much as normal, but if you removed the recess for the case rim it would look like a normal cylinder. Did this type of cylinder ever come with any Ruger B.H. The rest of the parts were Ruger B.H. parts.

I believe a lot of the the old model blackhawks had cylinder like you are talking about.

My Old Model .45 cylinders are rebated with a firing pin groove around the center line of the chambers. However my OM .357 cylinder is neither rebated nor does it have a FP groove around it.

I'd suspect that is not a Ruger cylinder, but just one of similar design.

I agree also as I know of no Ruger factory 38/357 cylinders with recessed chambers. And the 9mm cylinder chambers do not need a recess.

FWIW, there's someone on GB selling a rebated OM cylinder with base pin:

They are selling it as a .357 but, I believe it to be a .30 carbine. Maybe the garage salesman made the same "possible" mistake??

A couple of Super Blackhawk cylinders. Note the width of the cylinder latch notches (bolt cuts in Colt Nomenclature.) Below is the above post's topic..

Probably a Colt cylnder.........

Flatgate I didn't look real hard at the notches/cuts. Those definately look larger than a Ruger notch. I zoned in on the recessed chambers.
