Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Ruger Blackhawk Convertible 45LC/45ACP (BN-445XL, Model 10463) and the new Ruger Blackhawk Flattop 45 colt/45 ACP (model 52040, 52041)? Is it the frame size or something else.

Also, can someone confirm that each of the guns mentioned above have an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at
least 71/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and
barrel are assembled. Need I say that I live in the Peoples Republic of California. Thanks.

I should have mentioned in my post that the 5240/41 models are the models that Lipsey is distributing.

The Lipsey's flattop Blackhawk convertible is built on the smaller "New Vaquero" sized frame and also uses the "new" XR3 grip frame of the New Vaquero. This revolver should not be fed a diet of handloads exceeding 20,000 psi. The standard Ruger Blackhawk convertible is the regular ol' large framed Blackhawk that we've all come to love and can handle all the 30,000 CUP loads you care to feed it.

And according to Ruger, it is legal in CA.

Too bad the standard convertable is not available in stainless (to my knowledge).

Ruger made a few for Davidson's about twenty years ago, in three different barrel lengths. But none since then.
Have all three models available if you're interested. Just send me a PM.

well, im a little confused. i just bought a new Bisley New Model Blackhawk 45LC/45ACP in stainless with a 5.5" barrel. the only place on the gun that says Bisley is on the cylinder but it has the lower hammer, curved trigger and longer grips. is this gun capable of the hotter loads in 45LC if i ever want to shoot some? i love Ruger guns but they can get confusing with the multiple names on the same gun. thanks for any help on the subject.

James, the short answer is yes.

We are only talking about the Lipsey's special order run of NM Flattop 45 Cal Convertible Blackhawks. So far, all standard Blackhawks, Vaqueros (not the New Vaquero), SBH, and Bisley Blackhawks are capable of handling the "Linebaugh" loads.

I'm going to highjack my own thread by asking what makes the Bisley model different from other models? My experience has been with a Ruger Security Six and a Mark II Target only.

Bisley hammer and Bisley grip frame.

Bisley Vaquero. Same as any other Vaquero except it has a Bisley grip frame and Bisley hammer.
