DEERFIELD Carbine Sights--Height question

Has anyone else had a problem with the rear sight being mounted
too low? I really have to press my cheek HARD against the stock to get low enough for a proper sight-picture. I put a cheek pad on the stock to lessen the discomfort, about 1/8"-thick 'til I use it, but it's not much help.
Is there somebody that makes a bolt-on rear sight that is taller?

These might be taller but of course you will also have to have a taller front sight. I didn't have a problem but installed a "red dot" on mine and I like it very much. Have you tried a "red dot"?

Nope, haven't tried a RedDot. After finding that the issued rear aperture rear sight worked for me as is, I wanted to get away from optics
entirely.
I'd looked at the Midway site, but apparently don't know how to search.
I'll check out those links.
Thanks for taking the trouble to look those up. Really like the carbine,
and think it can be improved just a smidgen for my use.

The WGRS doesn't sit all that higher and the one I had left considerable space between the tail end of the base and the receiver. You might want to try an M1 Carbine or 1903A3 rear sight - the dovetail on the sight needs to be dressed down a bit but it's easy to do. That will definitely sit higher than the issue peep.

Accuracy Systems also sells a Ranch Rifle - which is what the 99/44 uses - version of the M1 Carbine with the correct dovetail, but they charge about $80.00 for the darn thing.
