Decided to scope my GP-100

I found a easy way to mount a scope to the GP-100. Jack Weigand makes a mount that requires no tapping and drilling. I also bought the rings that match up with the mount. The only thing I don't like about this set up is I haave to remove the front and rear sights to mount the base. If the scope goes bad in the field, I better have a back up gun at camp!

I received the mount and rings and now have to wait on the scope. I ended up buying an NC-Star handgun 2-7X32 Illuminated Pistol scope. It is called the Pistolero scope. The price was very right, $66 and shipping was free. I bought another NC-Star scope and it works just great on my AR-15. Being cheap doesn't always mean bad.

Will let everyone know how it goes at the range after I mount the new scope and shoot it.

Weigand makes great stuff! I do think if I was to use such a set-up afield and was concerned about the scope going bad, I'd be opting for a better one. More chances something will effect the scope afield than where the AR gets used. (guessing anyways)
I really like the GP's, especially the 6" one. Waiting for pics of this set-up. 8)

With as many scoped handguns that I own, you wouldn't think I could get this excited!!!

Sounds like a good set up even if you need to remove the sights. I had a B-Square mount on a GP and will not ever buy one again or recommend one to someone else. It was designed to slide over the barrel and use the front sight to keep the assembly in place and all it does is wreck front sights. And it marred everything up so it could not be removed.

For fun with scoped handguns...set clay birds out at 100-200 yards and hammer away!!

Cheap scopes are nice for a few weeks, but in the end you'll just be frustrated and annoyed over a junk scope wrecking your hunt or shot at a nice trophy. I learned my lesson. Now I just save my money and buy a good scope with a real warranty. Leupold, Weaver, Burris, Redfield - all good scopes and at reasonable prices.

I hope the mount works out good though, they sure look sturdy!

Well the Jack Weigand base and rings for my GP100 came in and it installed very easily. I am just waiting for the scope to come in and I will set it up and take it to the range.

The base seems very sturdy and looks like it will hold up very well.

Well I was very happy after my range visit!!! The Weigand base and rings worked flawlessly. My only adjustment was for elevation and then the gun was perfect. Fit and finish look great! I showed my friend and he wants a setup like mine for his Red Hawk.

I ended up putting my Leupold on the GP100 and it looks great. I will post some photos tomorrow. I have to take the little lady out to dinner tonight.

I will be taking it back to the range for a more formal range review for some test loads that need to be done. I will file a report in a few days.
