Growing up in the 1970's, 80's and into the early '90's I never even saw a tick, I had a stupid Lab that we did nothing but walk the fields and woods, hunting and fishing. She would start crying as soon as she lost sight of me. We as in all the kids around us would lay in the fields and watch the stars almost every night, none of us ever had a tick on us. After my Lab passed I was gifted a Rottweiler / German Shepherd 50/50 mix. He was a giant at 135lbs. He and I were always outside also. Jump forward to 1997 I found a tick on me after a day of opening up my shooting lanes. After that they just seemed to multiply like crazy. Would have one or two on me everytime I did anything out of the yard, and one time I picked 20 off my dog after just a short walk along the fence lines.
