This day in 1944 he celebrated his 19th birthday at a fun little resort on the Rhine River called Remagen as a radio man in a half track in the 9th armored division.
He was the unit's weapons scrounge and kept a nice selection of the best firearms he could come up with as they rolled across Germany. He had Thompsons and Garands and carbines and 1911's, Mauser pistols, Sig Pistols, Radom pistols, Lugers, fancy German sniper and sporting rifles, several of the different German machine guns, he even traded some of grandma's home made candies for a BAR one time.
He said when the Germans counter offensive had them surrounded for awhile, he tossed every singe German gun he had because they had been told that the Germans would kill you if you had German firearms on you and were captured. His favorite carry was his Inland carbine and a Walther P-38 9mm. He also had a .32 Walther he took off a German officer, and while it got confiscated on the Queen Mary on his way home, he found another just like it at an auction in rural Oklahoma and was his personal pocket pistol while he worked as a district court judge later in life.
He attended law school at Tulsa, worked for a small town farm bank as their staff attorney and later became a board of directors member, then was elected District court judge in the 70's and actually had Timothy McVey's attorney Steven Jones as one of the attorneys who worked cases in his court. He golfed and quail hunted with Ok Gov Frank Keating and former Gov Henry Bellmon. He and Mom know George W and Laura Bush and other high ranking Republicans around the country.
He is a life NRA member, bought legacy memberships for all of the family and is a serious supporter of the NRA Whittington Center range in Raton New Mexico, and God willin and the creek don't rise, May 10th this spring, we will have another recoil therapy session there with our Garands

My biggest regret is that he has lived long enough to watch the Barry Soetero and Eric Holder ship of fools destroy what he holds precious and with integrity in his life. It hurts him to see it going the way it is right now. WWII vets like him deserve better in their end times.
